New Crate 6.0, NO oil pressure.
Hey guys, just finally fired a brand new crate 6.0 in an S10. Engine has no oil pressure after extended cranking and 1 minute run time. 7 qts of oil in engine. Mechanical gauge, NO oil at head level from pushrods. Lots of oil in filter and coms out all over when you take the filter off. Is there some sort of plug or galley problem before the oil makes it to the mains but after it has been through the filter. BTW, the engine is very noisy (scary) when running with no oil pressure. Only been ran 10-15 secs at a time.
I did a search and didnt come up with the exact same problems so I'm posting. Any ideas???

Just had the o-ring problem this past week...fortunately, my engine is in a Yukon so pulling the pan was not too difficult.
Need to make sure the o-ring is fitted properly and the pick up is seated all the way in the pump. If the o-ring/pickup is good, swap the oil filter...there have been defective filters that have had the flow path blocked.

I would not keep running the engine until you find out the problem. If need be, pull the fuse to the fuel pump so the engine doesn't start when you're turning it over to check for oil pressure. Make sure the o-ring is seated properly and replacing the filter might not hurt either to rule out a cheap fix.

There is a plug of sorts called an oil restrictor that goes into the back of the block, there have been some issues where new engines/short blocks have been shipped w/o them..........try a search on "oil restrictor".

Looks like an off white dumbell with an o-ring on one end. It is the oil bypass valve.

I wouldn't think new blocks would ship with them installed.

Is the pressure sending unit intact? Any chance it's indication only problem?
