MS3 Daily drivable?
Alright, my car is a not really a daily driver. I have other means of transportation, but I probley drive it 3 to 4 times a week...no more than 20 miles each day, if that.
I have been doing a lot of reasearch on this cam and it sounds like the one that I want. I have also been reading that its a pretty decent DD cam as well. On the other hand I have read its more for the track/weekend car. I am really considering getting this cam, but I dont know how its going to be on the street all the time. I have also considerd getting the g5x3, F14 and the TSP 233/239. Would any of those suite me better than the MS3?
Also sorry about the redundancy of this topic...just dont really know for sure still, even after seaching and reading up on this cam for countless hours.
Thanks.

I was thinking about going with that one but I don't have gears yet. The MS3 makes awesome power but not until mid upper RPM range. I saw dyno sheets of the 233/239 and was sold on that one. Makes almost as much power as the MS3 but earlier. FWIW, I don't have personal experience with any of the cams your mentioning but just letting you know how I cam to my decision. I was torn between the same cams you are and am going with the 233/239.

i have the MS3 and i love it. it has a great idle and pulls really hard up top. It doesn't have great torque but i did gain 60hp/40trq from the cam. I have a 98' as well with similar mods and i ended up with 380rwhp and 350 rwtrq. I spin mine btwn 6700-6800rpms. If you want more torque i'd go with something like the TSP Tourquer 2, my buddy has it and it is a really nice cam too. Also Jason and the guys at TSP are great to deal with. Just my 2 cents.

233/239 makes damn near 400 RWTQ on PRC heads. Flycutting not necessary. If I'm not mistaken the MS3 requires flycutting on alot of aftermarket heads. Here's a dyno sheet.
Your still going to rev it high though
MS3 dyno chart, setups are a little diffferent.
I'm all about that torque and I don't plan to have gears for awhile so I'm thinking the 233/239 will be good for awhile on stock gears. Both cams are great on the spray though, 233/239 might be a little bit better if you hope to go that route. Texas Speed has some kick as prices on head and cam packages. I figure just bolt on some new assembled heads and not have to deal with replacing the stock valvetrain in the car. ****, when I'm done, the whole upper half of my engine will be brand new. Cam decision has had me pulling my hair out but I'm sure I'm going this route. I just don't want to have to buy twice. That MS3 is a badass cam though, watching trmn8r's vids really made me want one. His car is a monster but the 233/239 will make your car a monster too and better from a dig I think.

Awesome! thanks for all that info man I appreciate it.
Yeah I have a NX wet kit just sitting here right now...want to spray a 100 shot. I have been watching those trmn8r vids a lot latley...just amazing. I think I am going to go with the MS3 in the end...I think.

How was that mail order tune that you got? its what 250 bucks from TSP? Did they give you a pretty dead on tune?

the only thing holding me back right now is how high it needs to be reved. I am not going to be taking it that high except for every once in a while. Maybe once or twice a month? Is it safe for the stock bottom end? I know people go as high as 7k but then its only a matter of time till something gives...I guess I just need to reasured that its ok to spin the motor to where I need to for this cam...cause thats the only thing I am worried about. Thanks again for all the help guys.

The first stoplight I hit in the winter I normally throw it into neutral and hold it at about 1,500 rpm.
I would go with at least a 3800 stall speed. When I installed mine I had a 3500 and it wasn't enough, hence the 4k.
It's not good on gas, but the real killer there is the converter. I get ~12 around town and low-mid 20's on the interstate.
I'm glad I went big, it just sounds so badass and screams when put your foot down.

The cam drives awesome, its a little slow getin up there with 3.42's or slower but when i put the 4.10's in, the **** pulled awesome, still beat a vette with the 3.42's. The idle is one of the best i've heard, there is NO FLYCUTTING required, it will work on stock heads and pistons and if you end up getting it, make sure to talk with Jason from Texas Speed, he's an awesome guy and can hook you up.
