Just found some German Castrol.
Well, after reading all these posts about German Castrol, i thought id go and try to find some and give it a whirl. I just switched from M1 10W-30 to M1 5W-40 and am very pleased with the change. However, i thought if i could find it, id try the German Castrol. Just to make sure, its 0W30 and says "made in Germany" on the back with the code on the bottom starting with M052, right? I'm not going to change my oil for about another 2500 miles. I'm riding this oil for 5k instead of changing at 3k like ive been doing. So the German will go in soon!

I probably will. I'm glad i got schooled on that b/c i used to change every 3k. After reading on this site, i will not be doing that again. Especially not with the M1 10W-30 i was running for a yr and a half.

Gator - What did you notice when you changed the M1 10W-30 to M1 5W-40?

I havent really been able to see how it runs in the prime of summer so i cant tell you about that. But as far as ive seen, the 5W-40 is really good.
that's the next oil i'm going to try. I have the german castrol now, but it seems to burn off faster than the M1. We'll see....

5k seems like such a short interval to me now. Ever since I started using German Castrol I've slowly increased my intervals, with oil analysis to back me up. My last interval in my car was 8000 miles and it still showed lots of life left, and very little engine wear, and virtually no contamination of fuel, water, etc.
I just changed the Castrol in my wife's car and it was in there for 13 months and 11,600 miles! I should be getting my oil analysis results on that sample this morning.

Ill tell ya what Patman, im really glad we have people here on the board like you that are this knowledgeable. When i first got my f-bod until the last time i switched my oil to the M1 5W-40, i changed it every 3k. Well, not anymore. I'm going to run my intervals at least 5k if not more. I should probably get an oil analysis done myself. Thanks again for all your help and knowledge!
