Advertised .585 lift.. little harder on the springs than the TR224 which is .563 but not by much. I think the comp cams beehive springs would be a good match, they are good to .600 lift.

Nope not radical at all. Good street cam. Rough idle but from what I understand no PCM programming required. If you do want to program a little you should lean out the idle and add a little idle only advance an richen up the upper end.

I have a similar cam (GTP420 226/226 .590/.590 112). Haven't installed yet, but been wondering about it also. I'll probably step up to Patriot Gold springs since you can get a complete spring kit w/Ti retainers, seats, etc for ~$250.

How long will springs last with the .585 lift. I was looking into there LS6 Stage II Heads and this cam. There heads come assembled with Dual Gold Springs that are good to .650 lift. Do yall think these will hold strong for a while? Im looking for something that can be drove everyday without alot of maintence and still make good power...

As long as you don't live in the 6500 to 7000 rpm range they should be fine. I did a lot of research into the Comp Cam behive springs. They work really well with lighter seat pressure and I haven't heard of any failures yet. They are around $157 on ebay. FYI

Please, to all who think that they can put a cam in their motor and not touch the springs for over 25K miles do this:
Either get a cam with less than .550 lifts

Because the springs get worked harder. It takes a more agressive lobe to create higher lifts which fatigues the springs quicker.
Kind of like running shoes. Run on them at 300 lbs and run on them at 180lbs and see which lasts longer.
