Default Whos the most reputable engine builder on this site?

Whos the most reputable engine builder on this site? There are a few builders I'm looking for people with experiences good or bad. I'm a have to have one built soon I think, botton end sounds like a coffe grinder chewing on marbles. Can high compression cause a botton end to go bad? Just when I think I'm done with it, it drags me( and my wallet) back in.

TSP, HPE, W2W, Futral, Rapid, Thunder all have great history and can meet your needs.

W2W and LME have stellar reputations, but I'm also very partial to Thunder Racing.

My frist inclination was LME but TSP has treated me well but I dont know how long they've been building sb's as compared to lme. My first thought would be less expensive at tsp but experience is worth paying for sometimes. Not that tsp doesnt have experience as well as all the other above metioned. I know there are a few guys local to me that have just added new blocks, one from futral that I know not sure of the others. Then I have to look local as well. Budget is a major concern unfortunately so I'm looking at a 347 I think but a 383 might only be a tad bit more. I guess I need to make some calls and send some emails. Drive it til it breaks I guess.

LOL, acturally that wasn't even funny.

As said by everyone above there are some real quaity builders.
Call around and get price quotes from those listed above, and whoever treats you best in price and customer service use them.

I've been building engines for over 12 years, our engine builders have been doing it much longer than that though.

I have no experience with anyone, but I have looked around some for future reference. From what I can tell, all of the sponsors on here who build LS1 based motors seem to be great shops. I'd say you really can't go wrong with anyone. But my gut instinct tells me to go with either LME, HPE, or Thunderracing. You also may want to look into Combination Motorsports as well.

TSP built me one badass SR 408 at a great price. They got it to me when promised and even worked with me when I was being a pain in the ***.

I would go back to them in a minute.

There is no one best builder. We have lots of builders to choose from, and lots have great reputations. I choose HPE because Erik was excellent at calling me and helping me out through the decision process.

Well thats why I asked for reputable. Search isnt the greatest anymore so its hard to get real feedback on companies. Thats why I'm looking for peoples experinces here. I appreciated all feedback.

The smartest thing would be to find a good shop that is within driving distance from where you live. Lots of people have gone with a sponsor (most are great) that was popular, doing business long distance through the internet, then ended up getting burned. If a shop knows they will be dealing with you face to face then sometimes it's a different story. Sometime you have to learn from other peoples mistakes, like mine

I've got a reputable shop close by that I'm getting a quote from as well. What shop was your bad experience?

The infamous Joe Prince Racing. Paid, in full, for a 427 longblock. He was a sponsor, very respected, and I never heard one single negative thing. Not one month after I sent him my check from Iraq all kinds of stuff started coming out. To make a long story short, alot of people got burned and I paid 10 thousand dollars for a Darton block, one crankshaft and a set of pistons. There is also the AP Engineering deal that has a sticky in the sponsor feedback section. At least the site made an attempt to help those guys. I'm sure most sponsors here will do you right. But you never know, so if you have a local place then that is your best bet. Otherwise, I personally would go with a shop that has been around a long time like Cartek and MTI.

I'm amazed no one has mentioned the obvious: Katech. 20 or more years in business, unparalleled record of IRL successes (probably close to 30 straight) with the Aurora then the Chev, maybe 50 or more races with a fantastic win record in the C5/6R Corvettes (and I think a total of one engine failure). Cadillac CTSV and GTO wins by the score, many more I'm sure...

If you are in the NW you need to look up speed secrets and blood enterprises
