Question Another double roller ?

How much clearance do you guys have between the chain and the oil pump with the spacers? I don't know in thousandths, but I'd say I have about 3/32 or a hair less. Just wanted to make sure before I button her up.

Also, who has modified the oil pickup tube due to the spacers? I installed my new o-ring with lots of oil on it and inside the oil pump seat and didn't fully tighten the pickup tube bolt until the oil pump was torqued down. I did notice that it moved it out a bit, but it seemed to seat nicely. I guess we'll see!
Thanks

As far as the clearance goes, I'm pretty darn sure I got the crank gear seated all the way. It slid on all the way by hand... pretty tight though. Then I put the old one on anyway and gave it a tap or two very lightly. It was seated.

It's not gonna be TOO much clearance. I don't know exactly but if you are absolutely sure the crank gear is seated all the way then I wouldn't worry about it.

Check out this earilier tread, you posted in it as well.

Johnv posts:
"Have you slotted the oil pick-up tube mount (in sump) to allow for the pump spacers moving pump out ? if not tube may not centre in pump correctly and can cause oil pressure problems at start up ."

Maybe he'll chime in?

First time I've heard of such a thing.

There is no need to modify the pickup tube at all. The spacers are not big enough to cause pickup tube to oil pump mating issues. Just make sure the o-ring is centered on the tube and it's not pinched when you bolt it to the pump. Other than that, u're fine.
