Default What valve springs can handle large valves and large hyd. XER cam @ 7200 rpm?

What springs are able to best maintain valve control with lager valve (2.050 to 2.080) on a large hydraulic fast ramp rate XER cams at rpm up to 7200?
Has anyone experimented with different spring combos?

have you asked comp cams? seeing as you are using one of their cams..

i assume 921s would be fine.

Prc duals with ti retainers should work as well. The manley duals. Pretty much any dual spring should work well. I'd definatly get titanium retainers though for better control. What's the lift, since that's what matter's most.

Default Our "8019" springs...

Guys...

I have done alot of spring testing on both engine and chassis dynos....."Patriot golds" (similar to our standard spring), 918's, 921's, REV springs, Crane, etc., etc......NOTHING I have seen (with the exception of one spring that had some reliability issues) has worked as well in aggressively cammed, high RPM applications as our 8019 spring.....great reliability, no issue with harmonics, and excellent valve control (even with heavier aftermarket rocker arms). We spent 6 months working with a spring manufacturer so they could build that spring exclusively for us to our spec's.

Ryne's Z06 on this board has been beating a set of these to death for well over 6 months with a .650 lift Hyd. roller and a 550 RWHP 408. This guy could break an anvil with a rubber mallet the way he drives his car and he hasn't popped a single coil of one of these yet (knock on wood! ) . He has tried alot of other springs that have failed....perhaps he could chime in and validate what I am saying.

Installed height 1.790-1.810
Coil Bind 1.080
Max Rec. lift .650 Net (still .060 from coil bind @ 1.790)
Seat pressure 155 lbs. @ 1.810 (standard installed height from AFR)
Spring Rate 428 lbs. per inch
Open pressure (@ .600 lift) 412 lbs.

Cost outright $208 per set of 16 (can be purchased individually).

Anyway....hope this info helps. Bottom line here though is ANY spring has the capacity to break or fail, but these springs really look good in every aspect of the testing we have done so far.

Tony M.

PS....I recommend anyone purchasing a set of our 225's to upgrade to this spring....the larger (heavier) 2.080 intake valve is more likely to float, especially considering most 225 apllications will probably see a fair amount of RPM which adds to the problem (maintaining good valve control).

Tony,
What is the maximum recommended lift for the 8019 springs?

Thanks Tony,
Will your springs work with the stock lifers and rocker?
If not, what would you recommend?

Yes they will....stock isnt a bad way to go because of their lightweight design. I you feel the need to upgrade I have used Crane "gold" studmount style rockers as well as their new needleless bearing shaftmount design, both with excellent results when using our 8019's.

.650 is max recommended lift with this spring (any more than that and you should be looking into a solid roller design anyway)

I think that they use the same seats and retainers as the Patriots and PRC.
I am looking at just swapping my Patriots springs for the AFR 8019

They should fit into those retainers and locaters (highly likely)...just make sure you check installed heights when you put them in.

Guys...all the parts (locks, retainers, cups, etc.) are available here ala-carte. You buy whatever parts you need. Just call anyone here in the Sales Dept. at (818)890-0616

Thanks,
Tony

Tony, is your "standard" spring a single or double? Also, what lift is it good to?
