Default PRC Stg 2 CNC Ported dart heads and T-rex combo?

Hey guys, I am just getting back into the ls1 scene again after selling my 98 H/C Z28 last year, and I picked up a nice 99 M6 Z28. I was checking out some possible H/C combos and I was wondering how the PRC Stg 2 CNC ported dart heads would work with Thunder Racing's T-rex cam? I don't want to flycut the pistons, and this would be going on a stock bottom end. I'm not concerned with massive lope and the occasional stalling. The Z28 will have Hooker LT's/ORY, and catback, as well as LS6 intake. Do you guys think this would be a good combination? Oh, I would also upgrade to the dual valvesprings obviously.

No ASP pulley or ported TB?? Don't forget the oil pump, timing chain, and pushrods.

I think you would make pretty good numbers. I say I THINK because that cam might a little big for those heads. I guess you like the bang for the buck the heads provide huh? Maybe you could get them hand ported as well. Maybe someone has done and will chime in.

Do the stage 2's have the 2.02, 1.57 valves? If so, I dont think they will clear. I'm puttin my motor back in the car after a MS3 and PRC LS6 heads (with stock valve size) + many bolt-ons this weekend. TSP told me that the MS3 wouldn't clear with the bigger valves without fly cutting, and the T Rex has a little more duration than the MS3, so I dont think it will clear.

I'm not thinking that setup would have good p/v at all. It's already close on the MS3 & the TREX has more duration

Yeah, the ASP pulley will go on there, and I will port the throttle body as well. A ported LS6 oil pump, and a double roller timing chain are also in the works. Hardened pushrods are definately going in also. Oh, the heads have 2.02 1.60 valves as well. What heads should I use with the Trex, that are reasonably priced?

So would the ms3 in fact work with these heads?

Why dont you just have your stock heads ported since the cam is made to work with stock heads and stock bottom end??

Would that yield the amount of hp that I am looking to get(450-ish rwhp with all bolt ons)? And what would be the best place to have my heads ported?

Awesome. Just wanted to make sure you didn't forget anything. When I was doing my cam I thought I would have everything I needed, and then find out the next day I forgot something.

IMO, the T-Rex is a great cam only cam. It has not really shined as a H/C setup. I would look into some other cams that are more "friendly". I believe that the cam utilizes more duration at lower lift, since the stock heads flow better percentage wise there. That would explain why the end result of a T-Rex H/C is rivaled by much smaller cams. Try the MS3, F15, X3, or X4. They should all make atleast as good power and act more tame.

Thanks, I think I will end up going with the MS3 cam now that I have been given such great advice from all of you. Thanks to everyone on LS1-tech, makes me remember why I came back to LS1's.
