Whining Noise After Cam Change

I know i will be going with a Cam Motion cam for my build. I think it is ridiculous how Comp blows people off, like there isn't a problem. It took Martin as the vendor to open their eyes. If i were Tick, i would drop Comp as my grinder. This is going to cost them business. Who cares if they warranty the cam, you still have to eat the labor and materials to re-install it. And why would i want another possible junk cam under warranty? I'd ask for a refund and take my business elsewhere.

the guy that Martin is dealing with is Billy@Comp. If that helps I only told him that there were still several people that had this issue that Comp is still blowing off. I just feel guilty that they are replacing my cam and still blowing other consumers off that have the exact same issue, just doesn't seem fair.

A really interesting test would be to take a cam which is whining, make a fixture for it, and polish it, and then re-install it to see if it stops whining. A polishing process isn't going to take off enough material to hurt any heat treatments, and polishing it wouldn't bee too hard to accomplish.
I wonder if people are going to start selling the whining cams at a big discount?

I have emailed with Martin@Tick and also the Sr warranty guy at COMP Greg and in my case, all they will do is regrind and polish it to see if that helps they will not warranty it since Im not the original purchaser (note to self stay away from 2nd hand cams).
But for EVERYONE else with a COMP issue, Greg said to contact him directly at:
Greg Rollins
Comp Performance Group
Sr. Warranty Technician
Phone: 1-800-365-9145 Ext. 1493
Fax: 901-366-1807
E-mail: grollins@compcams.com
Im am going to go the polish route instead of dropping $400 on another cam since all it will cost me is shipping to COMP. Its worth a try and will also help us know if that is all it takes to correct the problem.
Martin@Tick
has been a HUGE help and one of if not the main reason that COMP is stepping up now to make things right. but, he had to back away from this thread because of the rules. So you will not see him post anymore.
I may try and yank it out this weekend and will keep everyone posted on how it looks once out and also what COMP says once they have it.

If you're the 2nd owner, then I say they are doing you a favor if anything and that's good on them.
Hell, I'm the original owner and all Lunati would do for me is regrind/repolish as well.

He is most definitely hooking me up by doing the regrind/polish. I had pretty much given up on any help, but I think Martin calling him about it made him more willing to help!

Well it helps to buy your cam from such a great sponsor like Tick Performance. Martin is working with Billy@Comp Cams with this issue. He has told me that although there is no way possible way the cam is causing any damage, nor will it in the future, that they are working on getting me and another person a new cam.

I believe that "Billy@Comp" is probably Billy Goldbold, the "Engineering Group Leader" at Comp Cams . . .
Here is a "rah-rah" article with a little information :

I've had that same noise come from my BRAND NEW LS3 with a hot cam in it that came cammed from GM. It sounds like the alternator to me because it only happens like 1 time every 3 months.
Can't possibly be a bad cam.. unless GM screwed up on installing it.
