Default What is a safe rev limit (come inside for more info)

I am putting in a small blower cam on 918 springs with chromemoly hardened pushrods soon and eventually will be getting blown (i love saying that) anyways, all the other internals are stock, what is a safe rev limit that i should run? thanks!

Hmmm, don't know but am interested also.

I'd guess you would be limited by your stock con rod bolts as well.

With swapping rod bolts I've seen people safely run between 6800 and 7200. Mine is set @ 7100 with my WOT shifts @ 6900. But I guess every engine is different? Just my .02

Dunno, I have mine set to 6700, but that's with some ARP rod bolts. I could just be a big ***** too.

You really don't actually believe that? Do you?

6300 is a "SAFE" area and above that probability of failure increases.

I took mine to 6800. This was with a stock motor with only a 230/230 cam and 918 springs. I'd even launch off the limiter sometimes. No problems here.

Car's rev limiter is set at 6800 and shifts at 6500 with stock rod bolts.

My limiter is set at 6800, and my shift light is set to light up at 6400 so that i'm shifting around 6500-6600.
My cam pulls all the way to 6800, but I don't see the point in running the car that high when I'm racing b/c of the added risk of failure.

Well I guess I need to kick my tuner in the nuts for setting up me up for failure?

I was shifting at 6400 last year and this year I think I will twist it a little bit hard. Maybe as high as 6700.

I have mine set @ 6700 and bounce off it a lot and feel pretty safe about it. Anything higher I would start to worry. I have friends with stock bottom ends set @ 7050 shifting @6900 seems a little high to me but everyone has a different opinion on this...... Without any facts to support it, I personally feel 6600-6700 is the max safe limit...

stock valvetrain starts floating around 6500
rods will let go a little after that
but with upgraded valvetrain and rods bolts, people do 7K all the time

What kind of cam do you have. Stock cam doesn't make power that high. Neither do 80% of the off the shelf cams.

wow that seems kind of low, but here is another question, is it pointless to move the limiter up if u are making all of your power below that? say u peak out and start droppin HP around 5500, does raising the limiter do ANYTHING for u?

No, but most cams I've researched make power to at least 6600 rpm's.
