Default If you run a futral or comp XE-R cam then come in.

I want to get a poll and try to figure out what some of these lifter failures are all about, lobe texture, lifter side load, stock lifters, whatever. So answer the short ??'s below and maybe we will get somewhere. Most importantly is how many miles you have on the setup.

1) What Cam are you running (Futral, comp xe-r) and tell us the specs.

2)What valve springs, just say dual or single if you want.

3)What lifters

4)how many miles are on your cam and lifters.

5)Any failures?? tell us what ya broke,if anything.

Thunder Racing 'Truck Old Man Cam'. 35,000 miles on the same cam and valvesprings. The stock lifters have 74,000 miles on them. Everything works and runs just fine. No problems here!

I am running a FM14 cam, dont know the specs off hand. I am using Patriot Performance Dual Valve springs with stock GM lifters. 37,000 miles are on the lifters, 6,000 are on the springs and cam. I spun a bearing last august, probably due to high reving and constant abuse to the engine.

25,000 miles on a comp 225/223 .581/.563. At 20,000 replaced the crane dual springs with a new set. Total mileage on the engine 84,000, stock lifters, no problems. Before this cam, ran an LS6 cam for about 20,000 miles.

F13 cam, dual springs, stock lifters...all components have 14,000 miles on them and they seem to be holding up well.

It was already stated in another thread that there was a problem with the raw material that was used in a batch of Cammotion(Futral), and some Comp cams. Most vendors get ther materials from the same place, so this isn't surprising. Even if it was a Comp only thing, it wouldn't be limited to the XE-R lobes. I believe both manufactureres are aware of the problem, and there should be no reason why anyone shoudln't use either vendor for a cam.
