I am VERY curious as to how these perform and the difference they make. If nothing else please PM me. Do you have any other good information links regarding real world usage in a LSx motor?

I seem to remember BADZ giving these a try back in the day.

They were out shortly thereafter. Maybe you'll have better luck?

if you google rhoads lifters for ls1 it takes to a ls1tech thread..thats the info i got. I havent seen anyone use so i thought i try out..When i talked to rhoads they were very adiment about how low end torque will be improved..pics attached

I am getting some 241's ported with 2.02 valves and LS6 intake should be a good street setup

see a small groove on the lifter to the right, that improves oiling to tip, cam bearings and lobes..20 dollars more its cheap ins!

What a coincidence, I just installed Rhoads lifters tonight. My stockers were trashed so I thought I would give them a try. They were a hair longer than the stockers other than that they looked very similar. Mine also have a vertical oiling groove machined in the side. Let me know what your results are with these lifters. I should have mine running on Thursday night.

I used them in a Boat on my carbed motor years ago and they were not that noticeable. But in a tow vehicle with a old Comp 280 cam they were awesome!!

I am very interested in them in a LSx motor, they could improve streetability of larger cams for DD cars. That's my hopes anyway!!

Keep us updated guys.

Hugger are you changing any thing else or will you be able to provide a good comparison??

Just the heads. I am expecting these lifters to be a little louder than stock at idle. It is supposed to be similar to a solid lifter sound according to Rhoads. I am hoping they might improve the driveability of the cam. They were the same price as OE replacements so I figured "why not".

I thought these were intended to let you run a whopper cam and have it behave like a mild cam at idle. In the case of an LS1, I would expect that to be a 236+.

They are still the "variable duration" lifters they used to sell years ago, right?

the smaller the cam more toque you get. the bigger the cam your torque increases slightly but your driveability goes up. You can run them on anything. takes about 10 degrees and .20 lift under 3K. they do have adjustable lifters for adjustable rockers which can take out even more duration and lift

Ok, I just got the car cranked with the new Rhoads lifters and Dart heads. There is a definite ticking/sewing machine sound associated with these lifters. Even my wife noticed it. On the other hand I can definitely tell that they have "reduced" the size of my cam at idle. I used to be plagued by idle problems like surging and stalling. After driving the car around for about 30 minutes and the driveability appears to be excellent. The car did not surge even once. You can definitely tell a difference in the exhaust note. There seems to be less lope than before. The car still sounds cammed though. Like anything else with cars you have to give up one thing (quiet lifters) to get something else (driveability). On a side note I do run 5w-30 Mobil 1 in the car so that could be part of it. I have heard that a heavier weight oil will quiet them down some. I may give some 10W oil a try in a few weeks and see what that does. The ticking is nothing that I can't live with so I can say that I am pretty happy with the lifters.

The 10W-30 is no heavier than the 5W-30 if you are using Mobil-1. Try the German Castrol 0W-30 instead. It has almost 2 Cst more viscosity than the Mobil-1 at operating temperature.

Are your heads as cast? How do you like them so far, I am waiting to put mine on.

00BlackSS,
I bought the regular lifters, the V-max's are for cars with adj. valvetrains.

Vettenuts,
Picked up some german castrol today, and yes my heads are "as cast", so far I like them, I need to nail down a good tune though.
