Question MS3 Cam/ Gears?

So my car is at the speed shop right now getting the MS3 Cam (Custom grind but very similar) and 3500 Stall installed
with TransGo kit and a Dyno Tune with H.P. Tuners. Problem is the car currently has 273
gears in it, I would like 410's but they would break in a 10 bolt (I've done it before on stock cam&stall on street tires) so I was thinking of using a factory setup of 342 gears
cause I can get the whole rear end for $50 if In trade mine. Will that gear combo be OK with this cam or no, I do not have the $$$ for a bigger rear end right yet.

I'd say slap in the 3.42s that will help and when you decide to go to 3.73s
you can use the same carrier.

Pretty much a waste of money to go from 342 to 373 but You got a good point about the carrier.

Well on the street the 3.73s are somewhat more mileage and R.P.M. forgiving.
then 4.11s
And if you can only afford the 3.42 rearend it kind of takes the guess work out.

By "breaking" I mean multiple pieces of pinion gear teeth and ring gear teeth busted off and then destroying the carrier

are u buying the magic stick v.3 from tsp or from somewhere else that sales the same spec off a cam?tsp told me that on a auto to get the most out of the cam 410's is it but now for a daily driver 373's will help keep the conveter tight.so go with 373's but just remember that cam will runner better with lower gears

I have 3.73's in mine and I am pleased, but after super chevy I am gonna put in a 4.56 for the local 1/8 mile track and try to go 6.99 N/A... good cam choice by the way, and PTC can build you a hell of a 4400 converter...

If your spraying can I stick with the 3.42 gears and the ms3.

Or are 3.42s just not enough for the ms3?

I would go 4.10s and just be cognicent(spelling?) that it could break. Ive been driving around with my 10bolt with full boltons and drag radials and Mine has no signs of breaking yet...knock on wood. Just be somewhat careful. You with definately enjoy the 4.10s with that cam.

I pose the same question. I plan on installing MS3 on my car which currently has TNT 150hp shot. I have 4.10s and Vig3000. What should i change my stall and gears to,to accommodate the MS3 on spray?NOT a daily driver BTW.

I think they're right, and if you want some insurance short of a 12-bolt why don't you add a rear end girdle, and maybe weld the axle tubes all the way around and add weld some steel braces between the axle tubes and the rear. I put an LPW rear end girdle on the other night, but haven't bothered with the other stuff yet.
