I would think with the radiator and AC thing removed and the trans and bellhousing removed it could slide forward and out. Maybe not?

motor can easily come out WITHOUT a lift. I pulled my motor and trans out of my '01 SS in about 3 hours time. It's cake work.

that sounds like a damn fast job . I thougt I was fast for having the trans out in 1.5 hours from the car sitting on the garage floor and using hand tools.

Please share your technique on doing this without a lift. I am very intrested.

Well I've had my trans out numerous times now, so pulling that is really the quick part. I have the trans, bell-housing, and the clutch/flywheel out and on the ground in about 25-30 minutes time. Next I pull all the front accesories with their respective brackets. This takes about 20 minutes. (leave the balancer on) Then the intake and fuel rail come off as 1 piece. Again about 20 minutes. Next is the wire harness, once loose, place the entire harness on the fender in front of the computer and let it sit there. This is really only about 5 or 10 minutes. Loosen the headers from the heads. (leave them in the car) Then pull the through bolts for the motor mounts. Hook the picker up to the bolt holes above the headers bolt holes and lift the motor off the pedestals. Then I remove the pedestals to give a little more room. Then pull the motor out. Hood, balancer, valve covers, and oil pan stay on the motor. Also, just unbolt the starter, hang it up from the frame. Don't let it hang by the wires.

Drop the tranny and bellhousing, clutch and flywheel. Remove front acessories, a/c, starter, radiator and intake. You can pull the engine easily with a hoist. If you pull the heads off too, you could probably lift the block out by hand with a couple of strong friends, as it would only be a couple hundred pounds at that point. This method of course is not suggested.
