Exclamation MS3 Dyno #'s dissapoint...

So I ot the cam in its a MS3 cam on a 112 LSA with 918 comp springs and chromoly push rods 3500 stall that would ot lock up and it dynoed 362 RWHPand like 409 TQ cause it spiked but it would have been like 330-340 TQ. This is pathetic #'s to me for this cam and all the praise i've heard over it. Speed shop used 26918 comp single springs instead of double's cause I guess they were on back order, they said comp said the 918's ere fine for the cam, whats some opinions on all this. anyone else useing this cam ever dyno at Speed Inc? if so what were #'s? On the plus side I want to send out a thanks to Larry and the crew at Speed inc, They did a good job on the work and the car was ready a day or 2 earlier then expected.

Was the converter unlocked? You'd probably see a 10-20rwhp gain if it was locked so it doesn't seem that bad. I have an F12 cam and only have 351rwhp through my unlocked stall.

What were your numbers before?

Your numbers arent bad, is it tuned? Don't feel too bad, mine w/a TR 224, but with the LS1 intake only did 342/348, but pulls like mad. With better heads than the 853's you should do better.

As far as peformance...Guy I met has a 03 Z-06 with almost identical cam with prted heads and long tubes through stock exhaust system with aftermarket mufflers and no tune, we messed around from about 60mph to about 110mph and it was pretty much even as far as we could tell ( I was following him).only difference in cam is he is 236dur where I am 237. Is this good?

first things first, DITCH the 2.73's asap.

secondly, 918's are NOT a good spring choice for that cam

If you're keeping up with a z06 w/ ported heads and a big cam from a 60 punch, I would be pretty happy. 918's should be ok, but duals would be my choice.
Got a graph you can post up for us?

The gears are also killing you. That cam needs at least a 3.73 gear.

Those 918's are only rated to .600" and you should be running .603/.609". I'd go with duals and 3.73's in the rear. Also, how did the torque curve look on the graph?

918's will handle that cam only if they are shimmed to .050 from coilbind.
You could be experiencing valve float.
Also 2.73 is a no no with that cam, as mentionned 3.73's will do fine.
The only Magic that you need is a well balanced combo, work on that.

hell im 351rwhp with just bolt-ons. If you only have 362 with the magic stick something isnt right. What kind of dyno were you on?

Don't get discouraged. Those #'s are reasonable for a stalled auto. Any auto w/ a stall will never be a dyno queen.

Get it to the track, with a set of DR's you'll run low 12's

Making the power is all in the tune as well, so make sure you are running a good tune.

my dyno numbers are in my sig. I was told with a locked converter in a a4 would net me 380 and m6 would be about 400. if i run a 12.8 ill be pissed but I was told i should be real close to 11.99 with a good 60'. take it to the track and and run low 12 high 11's and youll forget what you dyno'd

It will be night and day from 2.73's to 3.73's. Hell you'll think you gained 100hp just from changing them. And the magic stick needs those gears to stay in its power band. As everyone said, change the gears, go to the track, then report back. You will be a happy camper.

bad combination period...that cam probably doesnt make peak tq till 5000-5200 so he's understalled & undergeared...he did dyno at 362 unlocked so a locked converter he'd be over 370 cam only which really isnt bad. At least get some gears in that thing & stop trying to dyno race your auto.

Springs need to be shimmed for that cam.
Also as everyone else said your gear's are killing you during a race.
