What happened??
I tightened down the mains to plastiguage everything and when I pull them out this is what it looked like.
All of the bearings are like this on the same side except for #5.

But one question. My haynes manual talks about an .0008 oversize bearing for the rear main only on some motors...Anyone know if this would apply to a 2000 block? It could be refering to LT1 motors but im not sure.
and since the caps were backwards that would throw the plastigage off right?

I've heard of putting oversized bearings in GenI SBC motors for line bore problems, but not in a LS1 at least not for the same concern. Sometimes we've had to put oversize bearings in LS1's if the clearances are too loose, it tends to be a bearing mfg issue, not something worn out.
I would prob re-platigage it with the main caps on right. Glad thats what it ended up being, its all I could think of.
