Default 25psi - 55psi oil pressure too low?

My new engine is up and running with 5W30 oil and at idle with hot oil I get 25-30psi and at high revs I get 55-60psi. Is this enough oil pressure or too low? I thought some guys were over 80psi at high rpm?

10 psi per 1000 RPM is somewhat the accepted standard. More is great, but not necessarily required.

Forgot to say I have a ported oil pump. You guys think my pressure is high enough?

If you have 60 psi @ 6K you will be O.K. You could shim your pump to bump up pressure as long as the flow is there @ high rpm to maintain the higher pressure. Another thing to think about is how accurate your gauge is.

That's about where my oil pressure is when hot. It's been that way since i got my forged shortblock with looser clearances. It's not a problem.

I have 10PSI per 1000 rpm but not under load. When I rev the car out of gear it shoots up like that to 60psi or so but I don't see even 50psi if I am in gear at 6000 rpm in say, second gear. Anyone notice the difference in the 2 situations?

My forged engine runs about 15 Psi. hot idle and goes up to around 55-60 Psi. at 6K.
I thought it was low but I have had 0 problems in the 20,000 + miles it has been in the car.
I'm using 15-50 M-1

My forged 347 is the same way. I'm swapping out the sending unit and installing some auto meter gauges today to see if my stock units are off,but you should be fine as long as it does not dip past 20psi at hot idle. I would start to check it out if it starts to drop more.
