Who has broke an eagle or other forged crank or eagle or other forged rod.
I want to build a forged motor and some are saying some makes of forged parts have hp ratings like the eagle rods and some are saying the ratings are pretty much meaningless that the stock crank is good for like 800 to 1000 hp and stock rods are also very strong.
I am building an 6.0 iron block for my twin turbos and not sure how crazy to go on crank and rods. I can afford if I have to stuff like callies crank and lunati pro billet rods but if cheaper forged parts like eagle crank and say compstar rods will do the same thing then might save some money and thats a good thing.
I expect to likely be in the 700 to 800 rwhp range most of the time on the street and car is not likely to be on the track as not caging it.
I have posted similar question but it appears no one has broken any forged parts so mabye the ratings are not meaningful.
And is a stock 6.0 crank also very strong. I am interested though in making a 4.08 or something which think means I need a stroker 4.0 type crank?

The stock crank and rods are pretty strong, the rod bolts are the weak link here.
I don't think you need to go CRAZY with crank and rods and buy the most expensive thing you can find. I think alot of people that have problems with even lower end forged components can point the finger at the balancing. I know eagle assemblies can be a little tougher to get balanced.
edit: grammar error

The problems I have heard of with Eagle have to do with their quality control. Even if the crank does not break, if it knocks out a rod bearing either due to tapered or barrel shaped journals or just crappy rough surface then it is a bad part. Granted from what I have heard most of these horror stories come from the low cost cast cranks offered by these companies but it still makes me leary. I was planning an old school build for my suburban and was going to use a budget aftermarket cast 3.750 stroke cranks, but after talking with an old crank grinder friend of mine, I have decided to spend an extra $500.00 and go with the Lunati budget crank.

Ok so pretty much stock crank is great unless you are stroking it which think I am.So I should stay away from the eagle cranks and go with a lunati or callies maybe?
Now how about any rod breakage stories?
