Default What heads with 233/239

im about to order the 233/239 and wondered which heads are better from TSP's website : The PRC Stg. 1.5 5.3L or the PRC LS6 ported heads.

The PRC 5.3's are a great choice with the MS3's baby brother. I would run them with the 233/239 anyday for a higher Static Compression ratio.

I'm going with the LS6 CNC'ed heads from TSP with the competition valve job...also will throw a set of the PRC dual springs on there.

Got the same cam as well.

5.3's will probably get you a better CR, but I think the LS6's flow a little better.

For a base price of $899 you can't beat the LS6 heads. With the dual springs and the competition valve job, you're still only looking at ~$1200. That's a heck of a deal.

Seen a number cars on here make ~450rwhp on similar cams and the LS6
heads.

Also, just call up TSP and talk to them. I've done it a number of times and they're always helpful and willing to answer all your questions. Can't beat the customer service.

Bottom line is if you want to know what will work the best, call the folks that make the product day in and day out.

I don't think the 5.3 heads with a 2.02 valve will clear that cam with proper clearance, the LS6 heads with stock valves probably has .050" more clearance then the 5.3's

You are correct...that's why I went with the LS6s...otherwise I would be flycutting.

Numbers are in my sig....cam worked great for me. Made good power!

I have this cam in my Z and it made 440 with mid 90* temps and a stock ls6 intake.

Thinking of going with a blower now though.
