Ticking finally fixed
I'm sure you guys know the noise I'm talking about. Can't hear it from under the hood, but pretty loud on the drivers side by the front wheel. This noise has been driving me insane for months now. So I finally took a couple peoples suggestion to check for loose spark plugs, I'm 100% sure they were all tight when I installed them 9 months ago. I get out there and start checking, sure enough #7 is loose and could be turned by hand. After I tightened it down, no ticking at all. I can finally enjoy driving my car again. I would have never thought it would be something so stupid, thanks guys.

Cool, I did my pushrods yeaterday and found plug wire 8 had a bunch of white powder crap in it so i cleaned it out. That with the pushrod change stopped any ticking that was there. I cant stand when the car makes any kind of abnormal noise, its like OCD for me.

Yeah, i have a pin hole in my exhaust somewhere thats ticking and its driving me nuts. I hate little stupid sounds like that. But its much worse when you dont know what it is that is making the noise.

My car has a ticking noise usually a little under half throttle, and around 3,000 rpm, more than half throttle or less their is no ticking sound. Do you think it could be loose plugs, or something more serouis like valvetrain?
Also my ses light went off because of my air pump, check valve assembley, the part should be on its way, but could that cause a sound like this?
thanks

Lullaby- What you are describing could be a loose plug also. Mine had the same symptoms. I think when the RPM's get that high the ticking is still there, it just might not be audible between the sound of the engine/exhaust, and the shortened interval between ticks (ticking increases with rpm's). Just go check the plugs, it's too quick and easy to not at least check out.
