400CID+.. what kind of intake manifold?
Guys with over 400 cubes.. what kind of intake you use? Fast 90/90? Sheetmetal? Carb style? Victor JR? Harrop ITB?
the reason im asking is cause i used fast 90/90 intake in my head/cam F-body A4 and ran 11.2 with 433whp on 224/228 Camshaft and AFR 205cc.. the intake was great for that setup
but now our new motor is a 408ci solid roller.. is there a big difference between the fast 90 and the sheetmetal or carb style ones for this kind of engine?
cheers

I think the two things you want go together like oil and water. you are going to need ALOT more cubes to make that kind of streetable power n/a. Please someone correct me if I am wrong but I don't think anyone has done that, on a lsx.

On second thought you may be able to with a LS7X world block and head setup 454 with a custom sheet metal intake but this is major bucks. I would say around $15-$20K, but no-one really knows what it is capable of yet. Good luck on getting it to hookup on the street. The higher you go the harder it is to more h.p.

i've seen hydrallic roller, 225cc 402's produce 530-550whp throudh a TH400 and a 12-bolt.. thats almost 700 HP in the crank. thats why I said 408ci and a big solid roller cam revving 8000 RPM with 240cc ET heads would produce 700-750 crank HP is tuned well.
I bet the 8 sec N/A car W2W built was 402ci with C5R heads and big custom solid roller cam revving 9500 RPM. thats more like 700whp.. so i think our setup is good for our goal.
our goals are to hit 9's N/A on a 3300lbs F-body.

im not gonna buy another intake manifold for a 5-10 HP gain.. cause paying 1500 bucks for that kind of gain is not a good bang for the buck.
do u know how much the LS7 intake costs? any before/after dynoes from fast 90 to better intakes?
cheers

You won't see a ls7 intake vs fast 90 because the ls7 intake only works with ls7 heads. It bolts up differently and has rectangular ports on the ls7 intake. Price on those were cheap. Something like 270 the last time I looked. With a solid roller running a lot of rpm I would use the edelbrock victor jr with a port job, and run 12.5 compression or more. The edelbrock does require a lot of fab work to make things work. Stock computer only goes to 8k rpm, so if you want to rev higher than 7.6k I would swap to a aftermarket computer. I believe a high 9 is possible on the motor with the right combo and a good track.

why do u think another computer is needed if we rev more than 7.6k? the maximum is 8k right? hopefully we are not goin over 8k rpm.

If you do a search you will see where LG made something like 620rwhp with ported heads, cam, headers and tuning on a new Z06. MTI is up there, too. The LS7 is the **** in my book.
yeah i saw that thread and was REALLY impressed.. i mean cam upgrade+mild exhaust port work, tuning and headers and that thing gained 180whp! one question though.. was that on Stock 11:1 Compression ratio?
