Default Oil Pump Assembly?

is there any way to reassemble the oil pump. i took mine apart to make sure that there was no debris in it after my old motor bit the dust. put new motor back in primed it, started it up for like 5-10 sec. and had no oil pressure. primed it again, took a valve cover off and the only lube up there was assembly lube? so any suggestions on fixing this problem? thought it was a sensor but all conneections are good and like i said it has no oil in the vavle covers. did i damage the new motor? please help, im goin crazy

More then likely its the o-ring on the pickup tube. Its pretty hard to screw up putting the oil pump back together.

Not long.

The o-ring may be in there - but it may be cocked to one side, or squared, thus rendering it useless. No oil pressure = o-ring installed wrong 99% of the time.

you sure the oring did not get pinched. It should have made pressure fairly quicky, I think that the last pump I saw, made pressure almost immedately.

Taking it back apart before you've ruined ruined something is alot more fun than the other way around!

I would just replace it, too much of a headache trying to reassemble.

Check the O ring, and maybe even the pressure releif valve. Did you crank the motor over without fuel or spark to prime everything first? It may take a few seconds to circulate oil if its a new motor and the lifters etc arent full yet.

Seriously I bet it is just the o-ring. You would be surprised what that stupid 75 cent part can do if not installed perfectly.

Did you swap over the oil restrictor plug in the back?

w2w said they did. i mean i sent them the back cover and kevin said HE saw them put it in i dont know for sure. he said he saw it go in so i believe him. i dont know for sure if they put it in but i would assume they did. i pray that its that o ring, putting that restricor plug in would consist of taking the motor back out right?

No, you will only have to pull the trans and rear cover off to get to that restrictor. You can check to see if it's there by removing the oil plug at the back corner of the block.

I'm not saying the engine builder didn't put it in......just giving you a heads up that it could be the cause. Could be the pump too. The pump isn't too bad to put back together. The cover is torqued to 106 in lbs. Make sure the pressure relief valve is good and clean before you put it back together.

On the pump there is an allen head bolt on the end. When you take that off there is a little piston and a spring inside. When you pull that out you can spray it down good with brake cleaner to get all the crap out.

Here is a description of how it works and where it is. https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...l+pump+porting

A lot more in depth than you really need to know. Lol!
