Default are stage 3 heads to much for stock cube?

i have a 235/ 240 601 /599 on 112 tsp cam and an ls6 intake and was wondering if some stage 3 heads would be too much and what would be the difference if i put them on

and i was also thinking ofgoing with a fast intake and a 90mm tb ported to match the heads

Stage 3 heads usaully incorperate the same port as the Stage 2's, but with a larger bore opening and bigger valves.(2.08/1.60) For a stock bore motor, these addition aren't bennificial, and somewhat hurtful. To much valve shrouds the chamber, or better yet, the valve is to close to the cylinder wall when opening to let the air disburse evenly. In most cases, 2.05 is the biggest intake valve you want in a max effort stock short block.

Is there a universal decoder ring for all this Stage 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,000,000 crap? Let me get my rice bowl out...

Well, for the average joe that dosen't know anything about heads, they have to have something to go by. I prefer to look at the runner volume and valve sizes to base a "Stage".

It all depends on the flow of the heads. A better way of looking at it would be to say, yes, a 2.05 valve can support the needs of a stock bore stroker. The aspect of the port is totally relivant to the type of head you buy.

Exactly my point. There is no universal standard for "Stages". Its comical when people start comparing "stages x" heads from company ABC to company XYZ.

The bottom line is that you need to look at your application and choose what heads will work best for you regardless of what "stage" it is.
