LS2 402. Never heard of block problems. Always pistons/rods that seem to go.

Like I said.. eastside was pushing an alum ls1 block to 900+ rwhp last year with no block issues at all, 383 stroker, and no girdle, none of that. The ls2 block is stronger then the ls1 and supercharging doesn't shock the bottom end like 300+ hp of nitrous hitting does... you'll be fine. Besides, with the weight of the blower setup, I don't think you want to add another 90 lbs to the nose do you?

Interesting thread. I didn't know it was only ~$600 more for the LS2. After reading these posts, I would definitely go with the LS2 if I was in your position.

seems people are finally changing thier minds about the LS2...good. the block is badass and all u need to do to make it bulitproof for the streets is a forged rotating assembly.

Are you serious? This is not normal. Have you talked to the vendor about this problem? What did they say?

I wouldn`t trade my 408 for anything. the extra weight doesn`t bother me at all.

My 402 doesn't smoke at all.. doesn't burn oil, it's perfect. PUshed my 3620 lb car to a 11.06 @ 123.23 with a **** 1.606 60 foot time the first full run on the car... I've got no complaints. Shoudl pick up nicely with some suspension work, but that's no fault of the motor.

As for the 402 vs 408.. if I can make say 500 rwhp with a 402, and could make 510 with a 408, I'd rather have the 500 and 70+ lbs less weight in the nose of my car... but that's me.

L92 418 is what I'd choose. More power than either and all aluminum.

408 iron for me. i love mine and you cant even tell you have the extra weight. plus it also makes the front end sit lower so i didnt have to drop it as far haha

when my car only weighs 3100 lbs. and extra 70 lbs with iron to hold a very very hard hitting 2-300 shot id MUCH rather have the peace of mind with the iron block...

also.. another thing to think about.

people talking about no LS2 failures from nitrous... hrmm... exactly how long have the LS2's been out now?? like a year and a half now? thats not much time to use as a "judge" that they last just as long and dont have block failures.. the iron blocks have been holding TONS of power for quite some time now... ive sprayed a good 10 bottles through mine in the last 3 months with no problems at all.

BTW... 408 is going to be your better choice........IMO.

I am going to build the 408 only because I scored the iron block cheap. However any help I can get with lightening up my Jimmy I would take (i.e. the Warhawk).

Get a tubular K member and the LQ9...thus solving the weight issue, and you can spray the crap out of it.

No L92 available 6 months ago. I went ahead with the iron. I cant tell a difference in the handling, Im very happy with it. I dont think I could have gone wrong either way. I still need many supporting mods to control this monster, haven't got spray yet. Damn this game gets expensive, just hate piecing one thing at a time. Hoping to bust chassis, suspension, braking, drivetrain upgrades all at one time before I make it go any faster.

So does anyone know what can you bore the LS2 out to?? without having to resleeve!! It's a 4" bore right?? Would a aftermarkert 4" LS1 crank fit the block, because I thought the LS2 had a longer crank somehow??
