ls1 crank fits fine, and I know of one guy that took an ls2 block to a 4.020, but he's running a strong n/a setup, with possible a SMALL shot of gas, for an n/a setup the 4.020 is probably fine, but any power adder use, I'd be a little hesitant with even that.

Here is a thread on the subject from another web site. These are inputs by some of the top engine builders in the country. You will need to read the whole thing to get all their opinions. Some of the names you will recognize.

I voted iron 408 because I have heard its a pain to do all the switching on the harness from ls1 to ls2 style.

BIG QUESTION FOR YOU WILL ALL DUE RESPECT.....
How are you going to get that much power to the ground. Dyno numbers are fun but after 500rwhp or so you are just going to spinnnnnnnnnnnnnn

The new EVO X's engine, MB11, has an aluminum block vs the older models iron block. Those cars have a ton of boost thrown at them. Mitsu has been in the turbo game for a long time. If aluminum wasn't as good as iron in boosted motors I'd doubt they would do this just to save 60lbs.

I am by far no expert but I think what most sponsors would tell you is that it comes down to how much you want to spend. The Ls2 can be made plenty strong and reliable for anything but the most extreme setups. It just costs a little more. It really just depends where your priorities lay but you could safely and reliably use either block.

Not sure if I already posted in this thread or not, but how about the L92 block. It is basically a 4.060 bore LS2 from my understanding and it is $1400.00 from SDPC.

I had the lq9 and changed to aluminum, so I can get some weight off and as some of you have already said nobody has broken an aluminum block...

The ls2 block will handle the same power as a lq9.

With All Do Respect For You 2.
A GOOD Suspension Setup And Even A Set Of M/T Street Radials Will Get You Plenty Of Traction. Tires Do Twist and The Fronts Of Cars Do Go Up. Thats Traction
