Default Help!!!!!! Oil Leak!!!!

ok so I changed the oil tonight and test drove the car and I was leaving a trail of oil behind me. Had a very small drip of oil before change. and yes I checked the filter and the Plug both tight. It appears to be coming from between the motor and the trans... The rear main was replaced along with the cover about 5k miles ago, could the rear main have gone out again? or is it possible that I over filled it????? Im lost here, it makes no sense that I had no leak before. Also oil is straight 40 so not like it is a thin oil!!!!

If it is dripping from between the motor and trans I would suspect a rear main seal. Could be a cover. Did you or the person isntalling it put sealer where the oil pan and cover meet

A4 Shiner

Sounds like the rear or pan gasket. Fluid leaks of any kind always suck!!!!!!!

I've done that, too.

shitty.

Smell the fluid, it's easy to tell the difference. If you don't know, then just smell inside your oil cap.

I'm willing to bet the shop didnt put gasket seal between the block and rear of the pan. I just got done changing mine and that was exactly the problem I had. when I put my motor in, I didn't put RTV on the back, just the front. It ruined a new clutch aswell.

I had the same problem, put some sealant up there and it stopped.
