I got a iron block bored 4.04 with a 408 piston with a stock crank. What length rod do i need?

What's your target power and use? Just as important, how fast (rpm) do you plan to spin it to frequently?

7000 or more depending if I have to and target hp would be 900 rwhp

900 rwhp and over 7k rpms??You need to go with a billet rod.I like the Lunati Pro Billets and ive seen the Howards to big hp as well.
EDIT sorry i just realized i didnt evan answer to question you asked.

It made over 750 to the tire on 17 lbs on w2w's mustang dyno through a th400. And that was only revving it to 7k. They were actually Derty's old rods too.

also if it makes 900 before 7k then i wont spin it that high

Let me get this straight here..

You have a 4.04 bore in the block...But yet the pistons are a 4.030 for a 408 correct? A 408 uses a 4" stroker crank and I believe the piston pin is offset a little so that piston would only work with the stroker crank...Correct me if Im wrong.

It looks like you are building a 371CI motor if you do get to use that piston you have.
