Default questionS about factory LS6 heads...power gain and cost to port them??

ok i am thinking about picking up some factory LS6 heads for $500 and possibly getting them ported. So my question is how much would it probably be to get them ported and if i dont get them ported how much power could i pick up with them?? i know nobody knows for sure but i am just looking for some estimates..thanks

I'd spring for some CNC ported heads. Just save for an additional month/week/paychec/other. With the CNC heads they will be proven to perform, and you won't have any irregularities between ports. A good hand ported set of heads will require a lot of flowbench time. By the time you pay a porter and effectively for the flowbench time you're paying a lot for a GOOD set of ported heads. You can have a sponsor's heads for less than $950 shipped to your door that are advertised to flow 300 CFM. If I were in your shoes, I would just opt for that.

Best of luck.

Isn't the cost quite high, especially compared to the $900 CNC TSP LS6 heads?

If you go with the TSP heads dish out the extra cash for the competition valve job. Depending on what size cam you are running they could probably have the heads milled and supply you with a Cometic gasket to bump up your compression.

And Quik, I do not know of many people running the GM CNC LS6 heads. The aftermarket versions are much more inexpensive and I doubt the GM outflow TSPs. If they do, it will be marginal since they are all the same cast piece with a CNC and with slightly different valve workings.
