Default cam vs cam vs cam

i need some help to choice the cam for my Camaro

i look to 3 cams

1-TR224/224-112
2-Texas Speed 228R
3-Texas Speed 224R

the Comp 921 Valve Springs & Pushrods will be come with cam.

which one the best for give me best acceleration at steest
<Roll Racing 30MPH>???

my mod camaro a4 '98

SLP lid / LS6 intake / SLP LM1 / TransGO / B&M superCoolr / 3.23 /
Pacesetter Lt's / Stock head / Stock converter /


Q: what is the different betwen the 112 LSA and other LSA 110 or 113 114???

Real racing is from a dig.

Personally i would take the 228...everyone wants bigger so i would go 228 i'm not a fan of thunder cams personally and i know of the lobes and cam profiles used by texas speed. Futral is another excellent option IMO... but anyways

the differences between the LSA's will determine the height of the powerband for instance a 110LSA would be like 6500 and peak torque low in the RPMs 3500-4000... and the 114 would be like 6750 peak torque in the 5000 range.... wider LSA will effect Valve overlap and create less aggressive idling

best way i can explain it for the newb's

first off roll racing is not racing and is gay, more importantly find out if that is all you wanna do b/c if you later decide to swap rears or converters then your aplication is gonna be the different and LSA means lobe seperation angle, generally the lower the lsa the more lope sounding. you may want to take a look at the CAM GUIDE sticky at the top of this section

no converter change go witht he TSP 224...on a 112 or 114.... if your starting from a 30 roll...not much of a difference in powerband, mainly sound i would say... you want smoother idle ( ) go 114 you want the infamous TSP sound? go 112 LSA. Really there would be no diff, but in your case i would install the 114LSA only due to the stock converter

Any cam bigger than stock with the stock torque converter is not going to be much fun. Why? Because you'll have to bump up the idle to make it smooth and that will always have you pulling hard against the brakes. Also, most of the cams you're looking at will be gutless down low with the stock converter. Remember, the stock converter only stalls around 1600-1800 rpm. When racing from a roll with a stock converter, the shift extension will pull the shifts down to the 3500-4000 rpm range...again, not where these cams excel.

My suggestion? Get a converter first, then a cam later. If you absulutely refuse to do it this way, then go with a smaller cam with a narrower LSA (that has hope of making better low and mid-range power). You have no idea how bad you're going to get smoked by cars with stock cams running high stall converters (and I'm talking about from a roll!).

probably something like a vinci cam what is it,an 062 ? if you change the vert later you can always pull that cam and get a slightly larger one like the 228r then.

114 will make better high rpm hp but is not always the fastest combo, infact smaller cube motors will always run quicker with smaller sep cams try to stay 112 or smaller on a stock inch motor. Like Patrick G mentioned, get a converter!! A car with too tight of a coverter will be miles away from its real potential, even running from a roll.

Unless you're willing to get a high stall converter, here's what I'd recommend with a stock converter:
214/218 .600/.590 110LSA +2 (Comp XFI lobes)
This cam will give you 8.4:1 dynamic compression with a stock motor, which is essential when trying to maximize area under the curve. Also, the overlap at .050" is only -4 degrees, which will keep the idle managable so you won't be up against the brakes 24/7. Also, the mid-range torque will be massive which is just was a vehicle with a stock converter needs.

But again, this is just a bandaid to the problem of not running a high stall.

you are asking for trouble a new brakes once a year with a stock converter. I say for roll racing do a 3400 plus converter. That converter will flash and hit so damn hard from a 30 roll, it will be great. A cam without a converter is *** backwards and will run like ****.

the TC was installed yesterday TCI SSF 3500 2.5 STR
and still stock head

now time for cam my gols is the same <Roll Racing>

what do u think about this

TSP 233/ 233 .595/.595 112

<for stock head and at future mybe 75 - 100 shot>

For best performance racing from a roll, you want to keep making strong power well after you power peak. This means biasing your overlap to the intake side of TDC. To do this, you'll want a larger split on your exhaust and not too much advance on your cam. Of course, too much rpm on a 4L60E will kill it faster than nitrous.

232/240 .595/.609 110LSA +1 advance

This cam will make peak power at 6300, but it will pull easily to 7000...just what you want when racing from a roll. Just save up for that tranny rebuild.

i was rebuild my tranny before with TCI clutchs.

232/240 .595/.609 110LSA +1 advance
this big cam for me and the Springs is Comp 921
i want cam & Springs & Pushrods = 600$ like the package at TSP OR TR

what do u think when i get like this 232/236or238 .595/.598or.600 110LSA +1

note: the NOS <maybe> i'm not sure.
