Exclamation Backfiring after installing rockers, PLEASE HELP SOON

Please take time to write some advice i am going to try fix this tommorow night.
Ok here is the deal, i took the rockers off to fix an oil problem.
Well i was trying to figure out pr length and i kept turning over the engine which pumped all the oil outta the lifters making them squishy. so i tightened all rockers to 22ft lbs and put it back together....my guess is we tightened the rocker down too much with depressed lifters and when they primed up its keeping an exhaust valve open and backfiring.

If i hold the gas at like 2-3 grand it pops randomly...
PLEASE HELP with advice.
SHould i just readjust all rockers with warm engine and oil press. built up? I think i am going to do the zero lash then 3/4 turn method this time.
I made sure there was no vacuum leak so thats outta the question.
THANKS
P.S. there is what i think is lifter noise in the pass front side valve cover area...BUT it was doing this b4 so its unrelated but im worried i am going to have to replace lifters????

There is no adjusting to it, just Tq down to 22 ftlbs. Re check all your plug wires you might have broke one or not seated one all the way.

A cracked plug can do this. It did it for me.

Couldn't have said it better. My only addition to this is that if you have an adjustable roller rocker you are going to need to set the valve lash. This can be a pain in the azz when the lifter plungers have leaked down. What I typically do is get them close WITHOUT over tightening them then bring the motor up to operating temp, shut it off and then readjust the rockers. However if you are using the stock rockers this is all MOOT. Start by checking the spark plug connections, then the plugs themselves, the coil packs and last but NOT least make sure to check the rocker alignment with the pushrods. You may have one that has either popped out of the lifter plunger or that is not seated in the rocker tip. This is much easier to do than you would think. Those suckers will pop out of the lifter plunger and you won't even realize it until something like this happens. It is always a good idea to check that anytime you remove your rockers as it doesn't take much for one to jump out when removing the rockers. Good luck and keep us posted. Hope this helps.

yea its poss to be ignition, but i didnt do anything with that besides take it off and put it on, so i can only assume its something i did. There are not adjustable but i am going to reset the rockers to 3/4 turn after zero lash, then if that doesnt work ill go from there i guess.
I picked up plugs just for the heck of it. Only a 15 min job.

Your rocker arms are NOT ADJUSTABLE. They are positive stop rockers. Just torque them down to whatever the spec is and be done with them. If this doesnt make sense, then you should have someone look at it for you, you will be happier in the end.

so you are saying it doesnt matter if this is torqued down whether the lifters are primed or not? I am not bringing this into someone just because i havent done this b4. Thats how u learn.

A melted wire will do it, that is why I said to check the fuses - A melted wire will blow a fuse - did it to me a few months ago. Sometimes messing with the coil packs will blow a fuse as well - worth a shot - especially the 20A ENG SEN fuse.

That sounds like an exhaust leak.

Well guys thanks for your advice. I changed plugs and found one where the ground strap was touching the electrode thus bearly if ever allowing a spark due to no potential. IT runs great and the clutch is awesome!
There is still that ticking noise in the front pass but im not worrying at this point.

Thanks!!
