Default new motor not spinning!!!

I just installed a new motor nothing special just trying to get back on the road. Anyway I checked to make sure the motor spun freely before putting it in the car. Bolted everything up and the motor will not budge. Removed accessory belts, plugs, valvetrain, and starter....still cannot turn motor by hand. I have a feeling it has something to do with the clutch or tranny. I put the car in first gear depressed the accelerator and the car will not roll. Any ideas what might cause this problem or any other areas to check? TIA

Wrong diameter flywheel? Did the crankshaft have a bushing in it for the manual transmission? Did you put your original flywheel on the new engine? Was there a crankshaft spacer on the engine? Are you swapping one LS1 engine for another or did you replace it with something else?

I agree with above - the only thing that would cause that is a flywheel, trans., starter area issue.

Doh! Red Heartbeat I think you may be right? I installed a brand new flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, and bellhousing. I will drop the tranny tomorrow to verify. Thank you

You could have put a wrong bolt in your cam retainer plate. I forget which ones it is but one of them looks just like the retainer plate.. I think its the sprocket bolts. however if this happened it will stick too far into the block and the crank counter weight will hit the bolt as you try and turn the motor over.

If the motor would turn BEFORE it was bolted to the trans and since it's new you would assume it would it has to be in the area of the block bell housing interface. That's spelled flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disc, etc.
