Default What you think of this cam? For 408!!

I have a 408 with this cam- 244 248 612 615 113lsa with 4 degrees ground in. Do you think this is to much overlap? I`m just trying to trouble shoot something. Thanks for any comments! Car in sig!

Your overlap is not that bad. Get it SD tuned if you haven't already and watch it drive like a dream.

On a side note, you have too much bias to the intake side with that much advance; retard that cam 3 degrees. You have an A4, so who cares about power at 2500 RPM? The later IVC will hurt power down low, but will help up top (even if it fights the FAST a bit, it's not way out of line).

Plus, when you bring IVO and EVC equal, power will carry a lot further on the top end, and the retarding of the cam will lower the EVO, which will increase midrange power. All of those things can't hurt you, plus it will lower your overlap a tad.

They had 4 degrees ground in the cam from comp to set it dot to dot. Is that not good to do? Seems from what you said its to much! Is this correct! Up top is where I`m really hurting right now. She doesn`t pull real good up top. Just down low.

Yeah, retarding it will help up top. I'm guessing your peak is 5900-6000? It'll move to 6300-6400 or so if you retard it. Plus, the midrange will pick up. I don't know how much you'll gain, but you should see a nice top end improvement.

Peak is around 53-5400rpms. I made 474 locked at that rpm and 506trq at the wheels. The graph was going straight up and falls flat at that rpm up top. Then falls off.

Are you running the Comp 977 springs on your ET Heads?

I`ll have to ask what type. They sent me a whole new set of springs, retainers, locks etc to see if that was a issue.

You'll lose a little low and midrange(wont make much differnce with a 408) if you retard that cam....because the DCR will drop. But you should gain some up top.

No doubt retarding the cam will shift your powerband higher, but you might have some other issues going on if it falls off like you are saying. You might have some valve control issues perhaps caused by inadequate springs or lifter pump up actually holding the valves open up top. If you have not already, you may also check to make sure you are not getting any knock up there and losing some timing.

I'd personally run a tighter LSA and leave out the advance. If your working with what you have, then just retard the cam 4 degree's. Like Jake said, it's to much intake biased right now. Although I don't think it will help much because I believe you have other problems. Under no circumstances should that cam peak at 5400 rpm's. Something else is wrong.

I think thats what where looking at as we speak. I`m thinking we have to much preload and we need to retard the cam. What do you think Beast96Z. Would that cause what is happening to me? Thanks!
