Default Lingenfelter 427

I am now seriously thinking about jumping my stock C6 to a lingenfelter 427 package. I know this has probably been asked before, but who has had that done? What are your thoughts? what would you do over? how serious is it?

LPE makes some nice products, but they tend to be more on the conservative side as far as power. Usually less aggressive cams on their combos. Just about any popular LSX engine builder/tuner can get you the same performance or better. Where are you located? It sure is nice having shops local to you to do work like this.

If this is in your price range, go for it.
Like stated above, they go a little conserative, but then again you get a WARRANTY!!!
Besides, 500rwhp n/a is still pretty stout and you'll slaughter most cars you come up against.

Katech has some pretty disgusting engines, they are a sponsor too. I'd chek them out.

But why, may I ask, did you not just get the Z06??

Thanks for the quick responses. They didn't have the Z06 when I bought my car. In addition, I kind of like the sleeper look. you have to admit that when a car comes up next to you and they think it is a stock C6 and boom you surprise them... isn't that kind of fun? In addition, you get the option of pulling the top off and having a little open air if you like it. The price is not too bad all considering. I am in the Dallas Fort Worth area... 21st Century Muscle cars did my Heads and Cam package that I have on there at present. Beautiful work... no doubt. So with credit for what I have it would get me to about 17K for the work to throw in the 427. I was looking at the 403, but the price difference between the 403 and the 427 was an additional 4K. So why not go for a few more ponies and RWHP? Some ask Why... but I ask Why Not.

Are you serious? There are other sponsors here that offer warranties on their engines

frodgers, I suggest you shop around among the various sponsors here and make some phone calls. You can get everything you're looking for at a competitive price

On the flip-side, Lingenfelter's name brings a HIGH re-sale value

Can you recommend other sponsors? I will check them out. However, I do love the work John does on his cars. Great stuff. Yes.... for sure on the higher re-sale. I am already the recipient of folks stopping me wherever I go wanting to peak at my package.... engine that is.... I have even had folks asking me to pop the hood and they take pictures just because it says Lingenfelter on the side.

Thanks to all... when I have the work completed, I will let you know the results. Oh, and if anyone is interested, I called my insurance company (State Farm) and they told me to bring by the receipts for the work and modifications and will insure the full value of the mods. That was good news since I was nervous about putting high dollars into a car and running the risk of losing it through some mishap. Good stuff for sure.

And also so they can charge you higher premiums for your higher output motor.

That is probably true.... i do expect an increase, but I have heard a few nightmare stories where someone sinks 10 or 20 grand into a car and they don't insure those upgrades. Not only do they lose out on the replacement value of the car, but the upgrades as well.... a real bummer. All part of it I suppose. But insurance is a good thing....

Yep, dead serious. Lingenfelter does, in fact, offer warranties.

Some other sponsers also do this? You don't say.

Where are you located?

There are three shops in NY, ECS, Vette Doctors, and Cartek, with loads of experience building fast c5s.

On the west coast you have A&A Corvette.

And of course, in between there is Lingenfelter.

These seem to be the most popular choices among the 'vette community. Contact them, tell them exactly what you want out of the car, and see what the have to say.

Why would you consider an LPE engine when there's builders out there that can get you MUCH more power, same exact parts, same if not better build quality, for almost half the money?

And noone needs to mention the warranty.....every builder out there offers the same damn 2 yr/24,000 mile warranty on N/A engines, they just don't make you pay for two engines upfront like LPE does.

Use Katech.....at least you know they'll still be around in a few months.

Evidently you didn't realize the way you typed your original post it came off as implying Lingenfelter was the only company that offered a warranty.

LG Motorsports. Also expensive, but you'll have a faster car.

Evidently, you didn't realize you were the only one reading it that way.

Frodgers, have you read this thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...=555463&page=1

I guess they supply Lingenfelter. Maybe I'm wrong. But, if so, this may give you an idea for some alternatives. There's just something about saying "turbo vette" that I like.
