Default Whos shortblock should i buy?

I am planning on buying a stroker shortblock probably this coming spring here. I already have MTI 2R 5.7 heads. Who will give me the best bang for the buck and reliability?

what ever you do stay away from cartek. go with texas speed, mti, ttperformance is very good, or even slp for the money.

Just go with whoever you are most comfortable with. Most people are going to swear by whoever built their engine, and I would as well. I went with HPE because back when I got mine built they did everything in house with Erik. Since then, things have changed a bit, but I would still trust them. That's just my experience though. A lot of others have been successful with many others. Call up the people and talk to them. Get a feel for how much they know and how comfortable you would be with them building your engine. Then, make an informed decision based on your research and others.

I will be putting the motor together with one of my friends. I have been seriously looking at the slp 402 shortblock. Does anyone have a good 427 shortblock that isn't 7 or 8 thousand?

Thunder Racing should also pretty affordable. Their shortblocks were listed a little more expensive then Texas Speed, but Thunder's had ARP main studs, Diamond instead of Mahle pistons, and Manley instead of Scat rods. Add these as options to TSP's 347 shortblock, and their pricing would be about the same as Thunder's. Thunder also includes build sheets containing all the clearances and specs of their motors. I'm sure TSP would include these if you asked, but Thunder advertised this so we all know they make it a practice.
