help me guys, the car is acting up...i went to get on the gas and all of a sudden i had no power at all....then i restart it, it wont hold idle without gas and sounds like i have the biggest cam youve ever heard and i cant go faster than 25-30 mph...i disconnected the MAF and put the car in speed density mode and it runs fine, then i go to plug the MAF back on and the car dies right away.....whats going on here? i had a code for misfires and the MAF but when i ran speed density i only had a code for the MAF.....what could be the problem, im guessing a new MAF is needed probably....
please help me....this cam out of nowhere....

Your MAF or MAF wiring is fried. Inspect wiring and connections for damage and replace MAF if wiring is ok.

Yeah, running your car without the air filter took out your MAF. Some debris must have broken one of the hot wire anamometers (small coils).

AH HA!!!!
that's the exact same problem a guy i know had at the track. was in the staging lanes, w/o the air filter in. He has FRA, and sucked a piece of paper up. It blocked the MAF. It would run if you unplugged the MAF.
If you have FRA or FTRA, pull your lid and check

IF the MAF is fine, The connection for the PCV on the passenger side is notorious for coming loose. I finally got fed up with mine and clamped the damn thing.

You may have gotten some other junk on the sensors...
You should probably clean the MAF.
I had some 'odd' problems with a GMAF.
Shooter hooked me up and suggested some QD electronic cleaner by CRC...
Sprayed it down and my SES's went away....
(Damn...if the MAF was still screwballed, I was gonna race ya for 20... <img src="images/icons/grin.gif" border="0"> <img src="images/icons/grin.gif" border="0"> )
