Will the increased flow and pressure capabilities of the ARE blueprinted oil pump increase oil consumption thru the PCV valve? I've done the vertical mod and it's just about stopped my consumption but will it be enough once I swap pumps? (see my other post in here)

Thought I'd bring this one back up as I'm also thinking about getting this pump when I do the cam...

In re to the ARE oil pump:
I contacted ARE Racing Systems in Orangeville CA. They make dry sumps, and told me they use the stock GM oil pump. Is this the company you guys are referring to, and if not where can I get the pump you are referring to??? Thanks for any help.

I am running the ARE oil pump along with ported heads. Nick warned me that I might experience some oil consumption after this (pistons and rings replaced at the same time in Aug. of this year). I keep checkin' the dipstick to see if the oil is goin' down and it ain't happening! Pressure is way-y-y up there and I don't need to add any oil at all between changes. Couldn't be happier!

Anyone had any other issues with this pump that should be discussed? After seeing Jake blow two of them in a year I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna get one when I get the cam installed next spring.
Anyone with oil useage issues since the pump install?

How much oil pressure can the LS1's take before the bearings wash out? Like on SB's (older) Don't like real high press. I beleave 65lbs was the rule we went with on the ol' SB's. 90+ the bearings would wash out over time. Thanks.

60? Mine goes up to max 65psi under normal driving (50-60 is the range for just cruising around), and over 75psi under high acceleration. I was also worried that this pressure was too high.
At idle, it's usually in the low 40s. But once it dipped down to the low 30s, has that happened to anyone?

The pump works great and it's cheap insurance for a new heads and cam car. There hasn't been a noticble change in oil consumption.

My engine was built by ARE and they also installed their modified pump at the same time. My pressures are about 45 idle and 60-65 at higher rpms.
I use NO oil at all between changes. I DO NOT run a PCV valve at all. My AIR pump is my PCV. I have a breather on 1 valve cover for fresh air. I remove the breather and cap the opening for racing ONLY. That is not for street use.
Do the mod, it is well worth it.

Washing out the bearings? BS. The more pressure you have the better, except for giving the seals a hard time which might develop oil leaks... The higher the oil pressure the harder the bearings are held in place.

But what about the babbit. In my experence(sp) It will leave on high pressure on older small blocks IN time. Street cars. Just wondering on LS1's.
