Are you interested in a cast stroker crank for under $1,000
I talked with Scat cranks yesterday and they told me that if we could get together somewhere between 300-500 orders together, they would produce an inexpensive cast stroker crank for the LS1 like they do the Gen I smallblock Chevy. They have been looking for shops like MMS, ARE, and MTI to place an order like this, but so far, none of them have. Scat currently makes 4340 billet stroker cranks for the LS1 in 3.9", 4.0", and 4.125" for around $2,600.
So, if they made a cast stroker crank for under $1,000 would you be interested??

I would LOVE to have a cheap, mild 422 for my SS. <img src="images/icons/cool.gif" border="0">

Please pardon my ignorance but what all would be needed to use a larger crank?
Im guessing its not a direct swap as you probably need different pistons and rods.
Im just inquiring as I have never considered doing a stroker kit, but if the total would be around the $2500 mark I might consider it.

Yes, a stroker crank usually requires new rods and pistons as well. The pistons have a different compression height than stock, but if your going with a larger bore at the same time, you will need new pistons anyway. JE and Lunati are some of the companies that make LS1 pistons with different compression heights.
If you are doing a 'budget' build-up, you can probably find some 'used' Gen I SBC performance rods in 6.125" length that will work. It is conceivable that with a little skirt modification and rebalancing, that a set of Gen I SBC flat-top stroker pistons with the correct compression height and bore could be used.
Scat offers cast stroker crank kits with pistons and rods for Gen I SBC for around $1,200, but I'm sure the equivalent LS1 kit would probably be nearly twice as much or around $2,000-2,400. A cast stroker crank lists for around $350 for Gen I SBC, so one for LS1 I would expect to be somewhere around $700.

How would the durability on these be? I'm wondering if they would work with a blower or would I need something else?

If you go with the larger strokes like 4.125" the stock 6.098" rods will be too short because of the reluctor tooth wheel for the ignition sys. The 6.125" rods will work with the larger strokes and the stock 6.098" rods will probably work fine with smaller strokes like 3.9" and 4.0".

I would be in for 1
are you listening sponsors we need a commitment. You could come up with stroker rotating assemblies for sale and make some $ over the next X amount of years
