Ah the smell of plastic burning in the morning.

I have the smae problem I plan on taking it in. What year os your car? That smell is nausiating. It almost smells like it is coming from the wiring harness under the hood.

 

Can be many things.

On my beater 95 Lumina it's a trash bag melted on the Y pipe.

Check stuff on your car, burnt stuff means you have to replace it.

 

It's a 99 with 65,000 on the clock. It just started last night. I installed Mac headers about a week ago. I'm thinking its the O2 wires although I hope its just the ashtray light. I would have no idea what it could be on a new car...

 

Hmmm...

Look at the two foil wrapped looms running down the passenger side by the #4 and #6 header primaries. Don't let those rest on the headers. We just opened mine up and even though the wrapping was not charred the loom inside was melted.

Also check around the 02's.

 

I found the problem. It turned out to be some of the the plastic wire loom I ahd installed for the nitrous wires fell on the header. No biggie, the wires were fine.

Haha, I currently have the walmart/y-pipe bag mod goin on here. <img src="images/icons/grin.gif" border="0"> Made me real nervous since it happened right after I istalled and tested the TNT. <img src="images/icons/shocked.gif" border="0">

 

lol bass i had the same thing i had the bag/y-pipe mod going on smells like *** ohhwell it just looks like crap on the y-pipe smell is pretty much gone now....DOH!
