Anyone have a detailed report on how to port the TB at home??? I want to do this myself, but don't want to screw it up. I need to use the Dremel for something... Don't I?

When you port the throttle body, you are removing any casting flaws, as well as making sure there is a direct shot to the intake without obstructions(Except the Throttle Blade)

If you are looking in your throttle body, you will notice a ledge or lip right before the blade. try to smooth this out as much as possible while making sure you do not hit the blade. What you are doing is creating a much better path into your intake. I believe the ported ones that you can buy actually use a bigger valve thus allowing for a larger bore throttle body.... I hope this helps...

Only the BBK uses a bigger thottle blade that I'm aware of but it's actually not a ported unit but rather a new from the ground up unit.

I know MTI sells ported TB's but they dont actually bore it out. Maybe they should look into actually boring the throttle body and putting a larger blade in it.

how much do the stock TB's flow (cfm?) and how much do the MTI ported ones flow?

MTI's ported TBs flow pretty close to what a BBK flows (I think I was told only 10 CFM less) while being MUCH cheaper and without all of the problems associtated with the BBKs.

Making the blad bigger would add expense while offering little or no gain since you are still limited by the inlet size of the intake manifold.

Chris at MTI told me they would take mine off and port it for me. I just want to know if I can port it myself, plus grind down the throttle stop and Maybe cut the egr tube. I just don't wanna mess it up.

I ported mine with a die grinder and smoothed it out with sanding rolls. No rocket science, no concern about swirl, tumble, or velocity, just some good 'ol fashioned aluminum hoggin'!

I personally would hate to do it with a dremel, my air compressor / die grinder / carbide bit setup works great for stuff like this.

Took about two hours to get it where I wanted it. Don't go too far - there's water in that thar throttle body!
