I bought a wrecked 2000 Trans Am T tops and its missing a little panel in front of the shifter or label that shows the shifts positions of the 6 speed. Its to the left of the lighter. Inside there is cable with a conector not hooked up to anything. I think is the traction control switch but not sure. I have a picture but can't post it. Let me know your opinions and if you want me to email you the pic. Need help ASAP. Any ideas?

Yeah, I replied to you in the other thread when you asked about it.. that is indeed the traction control switch. You should be able to find one out of any junkyard. <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

I'll call some places tomorrow. I need the switch ASAP since my first road race will be soon and it would suck to race with the TC on. Is there any other way to turn it off? Maybe a fuse or something.

So the TC is engaged when you start the car, and you don't have a way to turn it off? SLP makes a switch that plugs into the harness that turns it off from the start.. that way (if you had the original switch) TC only comes on when you turn it on.
Most sponsors who carry SLP stuff have this piece. It's about $50 if I remember right.

Make sure you check to see if the car even has traction control first.
My '00 T/A has those loose wires up there also but i don't even have TCS.

I've heard that some cars will have ASR / TC wiring even if they do not have the corresponding switch (and actual parts on the car). Might be your case, i dunno ... you can snag a switch from Radio Shack for the time being until you get an oem one ...

You can temporarily disable TCS without any special wiring harness - by simply unplugging it.
The harness is located behind the battery between the EGR and the A/C accumulator. Just unplug it. The "TCS OFF" light will illuminate on the dash console, but that is the extent of the negative results.

I have the complete wiring harness but no TCS. Do you have a cylindrical canister about 6" high behind the battery on the shock tower? Has 2 or 3 stiff lines coming from it? Better yet, do you have 1 or 2 cables going to the throttle body cam lever? 1 means you have TCS (or no cruise control) and 2 means you have no TCS. If you dont have TCS, then its just a junk cup that pops in that hole.
