Hello everyone
Just wondering what battery you guys are using and how you mounted it?
I am also wondering if you know the part numbers for the lightest (13 pounds I think) dynabatt battery?
I am thinking about banging up a piece of sheetmetal and spray painting it black to use as a battery tray and remove the stock one. Anything in particular that needs to be done to get the pos and neg connectors to fit? Any suppliers carrying them?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

This is straight from www.thunderracing.com You can call them at 817.516.7223. From what I know, these batteries are yes very light, but do not plan on upgrading your stereo system or even leaving your interior light on for more than an hour. My friend and I were looking at something in his car and left the door open for about 1 1/2 hours. We tried to start it up but the battery was dead. It is light, but also weak. Speed always cost something"
"Lighten up your street rod or race car! Remove the 40 lb battery and replace it with Performance Distributors 13.5 lb Dyna-Batt. The Dyna-Batt is built with extremely low internal resistance which leads to faster, more consistant starting. The Dyna-Batt is a completely dry cell and can withstand the rigors of high performance and racing enviornments. It is built with corrosion resistant terminals and is truly maintenance free. The Dyna Batt has an excellent storage life and recharges very quickly.
Thunder Racing's GM side post adapters help to complete the installation of your Dyna-Batt battery. These adapters allow you to re-use your original battery cables without any modifications to the cables. Thunder Racing's aluminum battery hold-down is now available.
Part Number Application Price
88-5575 Dyna-Batt Battery $155.00
88-5575-GM Dyna-Batt Battery with GM side post adapters $175.00
99-617 Thunder Racing Aluminum Dyna-Batt Battery Hold-down, 1993-2002 F-body $125.00"

No problem... Also I didn't check the pics but I saw where it says you can by an "aluminum holder." You may want to check the website for a pic of that thing so you can get an idea if you are still going to make your own.

Sounds good. I am planning on getting a dyna-batt and just throwing it in the car on track weekends. The rest of the time I'll run my stock battery.

I have one...It's light, easy to install, and works like they say it does. But... it has VERY little reserve. Listening to the radio while the motors off? dont do it for long periods of time. Running your cooling fans in the pit? Not a good idea unless you LIKE dead batteries.
It is a good RACE battery... but if you are looking for a "every day" battery... it might leave you wanting something more.
On the other hand... I have not had any of the above issues with the way I drive/operate the car.
Just take it into consideration before you leave the inside light on in the car over night.
