Default Guys who daily drive their TR230/224 come in!

Whats up everyone i think ive definetly decided on the TR230/224 with the 111 lsa. i called thunder racing today and talked to them a bit. they said this cam is great for a daily driver and makes awesome power.
I just wanted some opinions from people who actually daily drive their f-body with this cam. i put about 6-700 miles on my car a week, and just want to make sure im not making a mistake.
thanks for any help

My cam is bigger than that and i drive 700 miles a week with no regrets at all.
The advise i will give...go as big as the tuner you have is comfortable tuning...
But, a friend of mine had that cam. seemed like it was pretty DD friendly.

i have a 230/227 .591 .571 112 in my daily driver....drives just like stock to me. I also noticed you have 4.10s that will make a bigger cam drive better.

awesome. sounds like ill be going with that cam then. what valve springs are you guys using. i was planning on buying
1. TR230/224
2. Comp 918's
3. using the stock retainers(let me know if you think this is a problem)
4. some hardend pushrods
5. LS6 oil pump
6. Ls2 timing chain

sound good?

Good choice.
TR230/224 only has 5* overlap so very DD friendly.

I am 99% set on that cam too, seen a few 400rwhp cam only cars with this cam, and GOBS of torque too, which is nice in a DD. Haven't seen too many with heads on top of it though, hmm...

Sounds like to go it figured out! That should make a good combo, I am sure you would be quite satified with that.

i used to drive my car DD when i had a TR224 cam, my car is no longer my DD, but i have a much larger cam then you specified and it still could be a daily driver, no surging or bucking or anything,

like 2SSlow said "go as big as the tuner you have is comfortable tuning..." that and 4.10's make for easy driving

i would personally go with patriot dual gold springs, just because i've seen issues with the comp 918 springs, but they are still great, i just had a bad experience with them.

400 rwhp should be feasable with that cam only, when i was cam only with the TR224 cam i had with full bolt ons i made 395hp at the wheels with a mustang dyno, so i see no reason you can't get another 5 from a bit larger cam!

I'd Get the titanium retainers before the timing chain imo.

shoot, i am running comp 918's with a 233/239 cam ,.598/.605 with no issues. The springs have 20,000 miles on them as well. I think i will be puting some PRC duals on this winter just to be safe though...
Once you get to a TR230, there will be cams that make more power up top, but i think that would be your best bet for a stock heads, N/A setup. It will be the best trade-off between the smaller and bigger cams IMO.

awesome. yea heads are a little bit longer down the road haha. but id be very satisfied if i hit 400 whp N/A. ill also be hitting it with a 100 shot(currently have it now) but i wont be spraying on the cam until i get a good tune.

As far as the 4.10s go, i have them now, and am also buying a 12-bolt to go with the new power of the cam. ill either be sticking with 4.10s or even possibly 4.30s. but the thougths of shifting into 5th down the track has leaned me towards keeping the 4.10s

I had that cam and did not like it. I went faster with the old MTI Hammer cam which was 222/222 .566/.566 112 and the Hammer cam was awesome as a dd. I currently have a 232/238 .595/.605 112+2 that had great street manners and makes awesome power. I would go as big as a good tune will allow.

I have the traditional split of this cam. I thought that you were originally talking about the 224/230 though.
Any reason why you didnt like the traditional split cams?

yea i was originally going to go with the 224/230 but decided i wanted to go alittle bit bigger. and i think the 111 lsa will have a pretty mean idle.

i just looked over thunder racing's cam package and it actually comes with titanium retainers, and dual-valve springs. so i guess ill have those as well.

hoping to order the cam mid to late this week, and get going on it. thanks for the help everyone.
