I've had blocks bored at $7 a cylinder but that was 2 years ago. It shouldn't be that much. You also need to get the cylinders honed with deck plate installed.

Its not cheap at all. You cannot bore the LS1 block out to 383ci without adding more stroke. The blocks must have the stock cylinder sleeves machined out and be replaced with larger diameter sleeves and those are bored out. A typical 4.10" diameter bore will net you 382ci like my motor.
Sleeves alone are around $500, and you are probably looking at around $100 per cylinder labor.

That's not too bad. Who'd doing the best on this job and are there any unresolved issues with leaking water? Thanks

You are looking at spending around $4500 for an MTI all-bore 382ci shortblock. This includes custom forged pistons, custom rods, and the stock crank. All of the internals are rebalanced and assembled.
Your stage 2 heads would need to be updated to stage 3 heads to fit the new 4.10" bore size. Not sure what the upgrades cost, but I'd guess at least a grand.

Cool. That's cheaper then i thought ($8+K), if that cost includes parts, engine removel, assembly, etc. This maybe some i end up doing later this year. Thanks!

Agostino Racing will prep a block with 4.10 or 4.125 bore ready for assembly for about 2200.
He has some propriatary methods for resleeving that proven with the most radical combos.
4.125 will net you a 388 all bore.

Or you could Go with an iron block and use standard bore techniques. You will not be able to achieve 383 ci with bore alone though since the max recommended is 4.06 and that only if the block has enough material. ARE will heat treat and offset grind the stock crank to acheive 3.71 stroke. That along with the 4.06 bore comes to roughly 383. And it can be done for less than the aluminum block. Much less. But, youll be adding 65 lbs with the iron block. I would only do this if you were planning a power adder for high HP IMO.

To look at it from another angle. I just spent $4867.85 (shipped to my door) on a forged crank, billet rods, custom pistons, and rings.

I'm still concerned about cylinder leakage (water). I understand this was an issue and also that it is now resolved. I hope to hear from some end users, especially if they have some miles and time on the rebore-sleeving.
Thanks

That's very attractive pricing for a proven motor. My brother has a stage II head cam motor he can trade in...
Anyway, back to my concerns on water leaks, sleeves moving and price.
Is the water deal fully resolved?
What is the real price for sleeving - the ARE price is just insane based on $100 a hole labor and $500 for liners.
Thanks

Water leak issues are resolved at MTI, not sure about the other shops out there. All blocks are pressure tested (the coolant passages) and maintain a set PSI for a set amount of time before passing and assembly.
As for $500 for the sleeves, that is just how much the sleeves cost. And, $100 per hole to do this detail-intensive labor is actually a fair price. Its not as simple as you think on an LS1 motor, one bad move and the entire block is scrapped. Plus, once all the sleeves are removed and the new ones are installed, they all must be bored and honed, and the block still has to be decked smooth.
