1.8 Crane rockers install questions
Hello everyone, this is my 1st post here, I just found out about the new site today.I just bought some used Crane rockers and would like to know the proper procedure for installing them. I've done my own head/cam swap and shouldn't have a problem but I know its different from just bolting down the assembly like the stockers. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Sure I’ve put mine on a few times now, so here go’s;
Studs go in over guide plates with loctite, tension @ 25-30 pounds. Rockers go on, then you have some choices with the adjustment;
Ideal lifter pre-load is .030" that equates to ½ a turn once valve lash has been taken up. You can do it the way, “Comp Cams book tells you”, or you can do this “at top dead centre”. Some prefer to make final adjustments, whilst the engine is running. I’ve tried all different methods and in our cars we have more room to do it whilst the engine is running. I think you should follow the “Comp Cams” method..... it’s easy. Just take your time. If you don’t have a copy of this method... email me and I’ll fax it to you... Have fun

Jon C, could you post the results when your done?
I have the same cam as you and was thinking about getting the Roller Rockers as well.
Plan B, what do you think now that you installed yours? do they make more noise?

Less noise.... I also used to run the 216/220 cam and at the time, made 10 rwhp with these rockers, back to back dyno.
BTW almost zero oil useage with these rockers, as they place the oil down and over the springs rather than up and under the rocker covers. Sure they're expensive but excellent quality.
