Default Another 460+ RWHP G5X-2 Heads/Cam Car in the making

Preliminary tuning of another G5X-2 car was done today, but we had to stop to tune 4 other cars that were waiting in line. Final tuning to be finished tomorrow on what is sure to be another 460+ RWHP G5X-2 car, here was today's graph.

<img src="http://daxp02.lockeliddell.com/site/456g5x.jpg" alt=" - " />

2001 Z06: stock intake, stock MAF, G5X-2 heads/cam package, LG C5 headers, LG TB, Varam box. No dyno tricks and climbing pull after pull.

FYI this was SAE corrected #'s. It was kind of chilly today and the uncorrected #'s were 471RWHP on this pull. Would have been a great day at the track. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Nice spike <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I bet it will still get pretty damn close regardless. Great job!

Oh yeah, why does it say "G5X-2 solid roller" on the graph? I thought it was a hydraulic?

It says solid roller program, Read before u jump on the LG bashing bandwagon. I think they would disclose the fact it were a solid roller if it truly were. Its not that hard to figure out now is it?

Awesome #s man. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Yeah it's definetely a hydraulic setup, that was just leftover from an old dyno.

It also says stock program, so am I missing your point or are you reading it wrong? Also, how did i bash LG?

Camminbeast, lay off. I don't see anybody bashing LG in here so chill. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Godspeed, makes more sense. Either way, those are solid roller type numbers <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

No need to Layoff anything Jmx. This thiread will go down just like the other, its started out like that already. Questioning LG. Bottom line, they have one hell of a package right now.

I understood it just fine the first time around, all the statement shows is they were using a computer baselined for another setup as the initial test bed. Seems pretty straight forward to me, but then again I tend to use alot of "common sense"

As for Jmxs eye rolling... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" />

The G5X-2 cam is our largest hydraulic cam to date using the stock bottom end. Surprisingly it maintains great driveability and idle - we are setting them at about 950RPM warm idle. They cold start without a problem too and the slight lope just hints that there is something different about this cam. The smaller cams have nothing in the streetability factor on the G5X-2 cam.

It's funny you should mention a solid roller setup though because we do have a solid roller 346 CID motor in development. We have spent substanial R&D on this setup and the preliminary results are exciting. We are 3-4 weeks away from postable dyno's but dare we say it, 500RWHP NA from a 346 maybe a reality.

Cammin, This forum is for asking questions, and when somebody post results we ask questions about it. Its called curiosity and wanting to know more. Get over it.

<img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> <- just for you

Our SR should be made public in 3-4 weeks as I stated above. Too prevent any further confusion I Photoshop'ed that statement out on the dyno sheet. For those that are curious this was rev2 of the LS1 Edit tune developed for the G5X-2 package. There is more still left on the plate from the tune. <img border="0" alt="[evil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

so what are the specs? I personally won't buy anything I don't know the numbers on... so if the specs wont be released.. just a matter of time before cam doctor is run on them!

I take it you knew the specs of your stock cam before you bought the car too right? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

I'd be interested in buying it and trying it. Well, at least the cam part. I'm too poor for the heads now. So, does anyone know if the cam is available separately? Oh, and not installed by LG since I'm too far away. Also, was it ever announced as to whether or not there is enough piston to valve clearance for stock heads?

Default Re: Another 460+ RWHP G5X-2 Heads/Cam Car in the making

You know it is getting harder and harder to post any results on the internet. Each time we have to go into the same discussion about the same thing.

"Can't we all just get along"? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

We are going to the shop today to finish the tune on the Hydraulic cammed Z06 today. We will post the results.
Then in the next 2-3 weeks, we will have 2 more G5X-2 cars that we will finish. One with LS1 heads, and one with LS6 heads. The numbers will be interesting.

Then in about 3 weeks, we will have our 346 cu in Solid Roller cam in my own C5. I know that the intake is going to be the problem, but we will dyno it with a stock Z06 manifold as well an an edlebrock aluminum intake. Again, we will post these numbers for all to BENEFIT from. I will not give out the cam specs of either package. WE love you guys, and we are accepting donations towards the money that we have spent up to get to this point <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> .

Please don't leave out the fact that we are using our own LGM heads. We have a C&C program for the LS1 heads already, and we will have a new C&C program for the LS6 heads before the next set comes down the pike. The flow for the LS1 heads it 307 @ .550, and 314 @ .550 , for the LS6 heads. When we go with a Big bore, we get 335 cfm flow due to the unshrouding of the valves.
So it is the whole "Package" and not just the cam. That is why we want to keep it as a package.
You gotta love that torque number. That is the key to success. This is NOT just a curve that goes up on a straight line, and touches 45x rwhp but the torque barely touches 399. It is a curve that has some "Beef" to it with the torque over 400rwtq for quite a ways. The torque comes from the "combo". That is the "Heads and Cam". So as you look at our numbers, you must keep in mind that it is also the HEADS.

We will keep all of you interested in the progress up to speed. If you want to bash LGM, save it for the other tuners who post graphs that don't have any torque. Those are the numbers that you should question.

Again, I still love you guys. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
