Default Anybody have this cam? Comp 228/230 571/573

I need to know what the base circle is on this cam. When I installed it I didn't think to check. I called Comp and for some reason they didn't know. I think my pushrods may be too short.

I have the 7.4s now and I have a shitload of ticking. Why does everybody say to go with the 7.4s when in fact they are too short?

haha yeah,,

the base cirlce radius is .732
base circle diameter is 1.463

and stock pushrods average out to be about 7.395,what i did was measure like 6 or 8 of them and average it together..

just for the hell of it my stock cam radius was .775 and the diameter was 1.550

most people will tell you to get the 7.4's because they are easy to get your hands on a set and most people dont know any better, you are running with to little preload right now, which is why it is ticking real bad.

yeah just get some 7.425's ,,if it still ticks real bad then you will at least know that its not the pushrods.some springs are louder then others to.

yea, I noticed it didn't seem to be as loud when I had the 918s. I just feel better having the patriot duals on.

yea i did. then I sold them and bought the 7.4s and have the loudest valvetrain. I'm pretty sure the reason for the springs breaking the first time was just because of the springs. Think I shopuld of stayed stock.

Have you checked your lifter preload? .060-.070 would be ideal.
redtail2426 is correct in his recommendation of longer pushrods (7.425) which should give you .030 additional preload and hopefully calm/stop your noise issue.
