Default New Direct Flo Lid's tabs wont stay in place...

I push the tabs back as far as they go and tuck the front lip down in the airbox(I have done 15 airlid installs at least) I snap it down I take it for a ride I come back and the passenger side tabs are popped out...Is there something wrong with the lid? Is it becasue of the holley power shot airfilter? Need answers, really starting to **** me off.
Need suggestions..

I'd try to get another one. The one I had on my T/A for a while didn't fit the best. The tabs would only go part of the way in, and every once in a while they'd pop out. My MTI lid fits like a glove.

Mine does that too. Humm! Are you still using the stock flexible piece that goes between the maf and the throttlebody? I`m using the "fernco mod"

Sounds like the lid isn't install correctly.

Make sure the front lip of the lid (between the clips) is in (behind) the groove on the front of the lower air box.

Look at the last picture,
Install University Lid Install Notice the lid is behind or inside the groove.

Wilwaxu- I have installed it correctly this is like my 15th air lid install I have had 5 airlids on my car since 99. I just took my recent nitrous kit off and bought a new airlid because the other one had holes in it, and I have the front lip tucked in I know I have it installed right. My younger brother and I pushed the lid back in there as hard as we could for 5 minutes and made sure the lip was tucked in, drove it aorund the block and bow! Popped out the passenger side tabs but nothing else moved the drivers side tabs stayed in, the lip was still tucked in the lip and clips hadn't moved.... This really sucks..

When I went from a K&N to the Holley I had to pull out the rubber gasket that K&N provides before the Holley would fit properly. Just a thought. Not everyone uses that gasket.

2000 WS6 - Yeah, I remember you! I had my Direct Flo lid installed correctly as well, and the tabs never would fully fit in. I was still using the stock tubing between the TB and MAF, FWIW. The Direct Flo lid is very durable, but I just couldn't get it to fit right. Like I said, my MTI lid fits perfectly, and it's also very durable. I put an MTI clear lid on my dad's SS, and it fit great as well.

Do you have the Frenco coupling? If so, thats whats causing it. I have one and it has actually broke the 2 pass. side tabs due to the engines torque They pop out all the time.
