Default 01's ticking?

http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l2...torvids006.flv

Here is a vid of my friend's 01 SS. I have an 01 WS6 and I have researched it a lot and on most 01's this sound is pretty prevalent. The other years dont have it? Why? Is it b/c the new lifter design in 01 or do our cars have a problem or what?

(LIGHT RAPID tapping on decel from a rev, taps from like 1800-1200 on decel).

I have put 5K miles on my car and she pulls/runs fine, jsut curious if its the new lifter or what that does it in 01s?

Can't hear it very well from the video but does it only do it on decel? That would tend to indicate that it is not a lifter.

On decel 1800-1200rpms, a lot of 01 cars do this, mine does it exactly like the one in the vid and there was another vid floating around here that was the same as well.

Mine ticks like that too...I changed pushrods thinking that was the problem, not the case. I had someone tell me that it sounded like fuel injector ticks, but im really not sure now.

Mine sounds like a 350hp sewing machine on decel or very light acceleration in the same approximate rpm range. I would be willing to bet mine is pushrod related since its stock and has BANGED a 6500 rpm rev limit several times.

i have an 02 and it ticks, when i crank it up from a cold start, and then with a little rev it does it on decel, but if i rev it alot or after the motor warms up it goes away, someone told me it was the timing chain, it makes noise until it gets lube properly or something, i don't know if they were right, just tryin to help out

What is the month of manufacture? In March of 01 (from memory) GM switched to the coated pistons to quiet them down because of consumer complaints.

I jsut wanna see if others have it. If enough ppl do and have high miles on their car with it not causing an issue and having been there its whole life, ect. then I will consider it normal, you know?

How many miles when you first noticed the ticking and how many on it now? Always did it?
