Default PCV from LS6 motor - is this the fix?

after removing the intake manifold on my 98Z, i now realize what all the fuss was about. how did they think the PCV would work laying on its side?
now that i see whats wrong, i wanna "redo" not elliminate the system.
how has the LS6 valley cover/PCV worked?
can i modify my valley cover to do the same thing?
anyone have a picture of this valley cover?
has anyone found a valve from another application that is vertical that works and mounted it in the factory system?
i have done a search and read all 20 posts that came up, but no real answers (non-ghetto anyways) or pictures where available. lets not let this fall from our list of "problems needing solutions"!

Not necessarily. The only way to make this a "non ghetto" mod is to pull your engine and have a machine shop do the work. There is an aluminum boss in the LS1 block(up to mid 2001 when the block changed and is identical to the LS6 block now) engine valley that prohibits you from putting the LS6 engine valley cover on the motor(it contains the LS6 PCV oil/air seperator). You have to remove a huge amount of this "boss" and there is no way around it.

It helped reduce the oil consumption in my car, but PSJ did this at basically the same time and I remember him posting it didn't help.

Glenn,

I'll be doing the conversion once I get all the parts together. My current vertical pcv setup doesn't stop the oil from getting into the intake manifold, so hopefully the ls6 setup works. Here some pics of the ls6 pcv setup.

I have a big motor, and am running the LS6 pcv system and part of the stock system. I need a 99-02 pcv system (anyone got one for sale) and then i can ditch my driver's side breather and really monitor my oil consumption, if any.

You have to chisel part of the valley to get it to clear.

Here is a pic of mine from last year, you can see the LS6 pcv elbow...

Do you mean the pipes/tubing for the original pcv system that connects to the valve covers? I would take the original pcv pipes out and block the pcv tube coming out of the valve covers. The '01-'02 Z06 LS6 valve covers don't have the pcv tube sticking out.

cant we just weld in a tube and baffle to the stock LS1 cover? also, how about putting a hole large enough for a rubber gromet for a PCV that would be used on a SBC valve cover? isn't this how the pontiac's did it back in the early 70's?

also, anyone got a picture of the inside of the block where it needs to be worked on for the LS6 PCV system? a before and after would be nice.
