As long as you race with your hood open you'll be fine.

Did I ever say I dynoed with the hood open?
Don't be puttin' words in my mouth.
Even if I did, do you think putting a house
fan near a vacuum cleaner would make any
difference?
Both tests were done the same way,so that's
not an arguement.

If the hood was all the way closed by all means let me know, if so I might go buy one of these kits.

Solid #'s. Looks like the FIPK produces a consistent 6hp over the lid from what I've seen. Track results will be the deciding factor in my mind though...

I can see how maybe it would benifit you ram air/ss guys , You guys have the ability to get good cool air it the engine compartment via the hood , But people with Zs and non ram-air T/As can only get cool air from the underside of the car ... Trust me , in the heat of the summer I want good "cool" air in my motor !!!

I want to see track times with Ws6 guys with their baffles out of the hood and screens removed with this K&N FIPK kit if it proves more power than the sealed ramair than IM in.

See my post at the top of the page. Its pretty easy to make a functional ram air hood out of the stock T/A hood.

[quote]would you rather have 750 cfm of warmer air

The colder air without a doubt. Hot air is less dense than cold air, so 750 cfm of hot air is about equal to 350 cfm of cold air, all things being equal.

I'll pass on paying 230 bucks for this system.

Maybe 90 degrees vs. 500 degrees below zero.

I'd be more concerned with atmospheric pressure
and humidity.
Actually, I don't even know what the hell I'm
talking about.
I knew that example was a bad idea....

i would like to see some track times as well. i can easily see the FIPK being better on the dyno, mainly because of more surface area. the stock lid does no good untill you start moving. then you are getting air into the filter and helping it out. its like sucking air in through a funnel with the lid and sucking air through a large pipe with the FIPK. natuarally you will get more air when stopped when you have a bigger opening (more surface area from the fipk).

LOL! I pulled that one outta my ***

In all seriousness, with the hood shut on a hot day this kit isn't going to show any more of a gain IMO.

We've already established that dyno #'s are
useless and irrevelent, don't go out of your
way to prove anything.I thought people wanted
to know, but they just want to debate.
Track results are the only ones that count!
I wish I hadn't done the gear(12 bolt),so I could know for myself.
If someone else gets this,make 3 runs,install
it, make three more runs. Post all info.
That's what we're all waitin'for.
An A4 if it's possible,they are a bit more consistant.(I think)
